Harry’s journey will propel him forward to a final showdown with his arch enemy, and also send him backward into the past, to the house in Godric’s Hollow where his parents died, to learn about his family history and the equally mysterious history of Dumbledore’s family. At the same time, he will be forced to ponder the equation between fraternity and independence, free will and fate, and to come to terms with his own frailties and those of others. Indeed, ambiguities proliferate throughout “The Deathly Hallows”: we are made to see that kindly Dumbledore, sinister Severus Snape and perhaps even the awful Muggle cousin Dudley Dursley may be more complicated than they initially seem, that all of them, like Harry, have hidden aspects to their personalities, and that choice — more than talent or predisposition — matters most of all.

It is Ms. Rowling’s achievement in this series that she manages to make Harry both a familiar adolescent — coping with the banal frustrations of school and dating — and an epic hero, kin to everyone from the young King Arthur to Spider-Man and Luke Skywalker. This same magpie talent has enabled her to create a narrative that effortlessly mixes up allusions to Homer, Milton, Shakespeare and Kafka, with silly kid jokes about vomit-flavored candies, a narrative that fuses a plethora of genres (from the boarding-school novel to the detective story to the epic quest) into a story that could be Exhibit A in a Joseph Campbell survey of mythic archetypes.

In doing so, J. K. Rowling has created a world as fully detailed as L. Frank Baum’s Oz or J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth, a world so minutely imagined in terms of its history and rituals and rules that it qualifies as an alternate universe, which may be one reason the “Potter” books have spawned such a passionate following and such fervent exegesis. With this volume, the reader realizes that small incidents and asides in earlier installments (hidden among a huge number of red herrings) create a breadcrumb trail of clues to the plot, that Ms. Rowling has fitted together the jigsaw-puzzle pieces of this long undertaking with Dickensian ingenuity and ardor.

The final book of the Harry Potter series answers some lingering questions and is a knock out of the park to read. By far, the darkest of the books (yes, I did cry) but it is not without humor. Many surprises in store with a good feel ending!

If you are a Harry Potter fan as I am you must read the books! I was on movie 5 before deciding to read the books. And beleive me I loved the movies...but there is so much more in the books. I couldn't beleive how much is really left out and the movies still be good and does the books justice. Book 7 is awesome! It will wind it all together and tell you alot. I will say no more just because you need to read them all and or watch the movies! *wink*

i love this book. it is one of my favorites. & i will read it many many times over & over. the price (including shipping) was extremely cheap for a hard covered book that is still slightly a new release book, such as this. For such a cheap price i was slightly worried about wut condition it would be in but it was in excellent condition. an amazing book for an amazing price. For those of you who have read the other 6 Harry Potter books but not this one yet. What are you waiting for? This is by far the best in the series. It is a remarkable story of courage,self sacrifice,and love.It is a true page turner. Very suspenseful with lots of twists and turns that I never expected. It delivers lots of thrills, laughs, and even some gut wrenching moments that made me cry every single one of the ten plus times I read this book.

Excellent author; great story lines; Rowling has a fantastic imagination that keeps you turning pages. Highly recommend the books for young and old alike.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows by J.K. Rowling is a great HP book. It is a good conclusion to the Harry Potter series and a great read. If you like previous Harry Potters, the 7th one (the Deathly Hollows) is a great one.

I like all the Harry Potter books and just needed to complete my book collection, and I bought it because my kids kept insisting, and I liked the condition the book was in, and the fact that it came from a non-smoking home.

The final book in the series .. I had anticipated the outcome and like every other fan had high expectations for this story.. it was good but as I look back not a s good as the other books in the series it left me sad and empty and wishing there was something more to the whole story ... maybe one day there will be !! I would still buy this if you have read the series just dont get your hopes up too high !!

The End - but I wish there were more! I have never read an end to a series that was more exciting that this. Very very intense, exciting, sad, happy, using every sense you have. Why did I buy it? How could I not! You want to know what happens not only to Harry, Hermoine and Ron, but to everyone involved with Hogwarts. After all, you have become part of their 'everyone' too!

I originally ordered this book for my 10 year old Homeschooler, He'd read all the others. He read them for book reports for me and through him, I was enjoying the story and started reading the series, it's also been a great bonding experience for my son to interest me in a book instead of the other way around! It has made terrific dinner table conversation etc. It's been a lot of fun sharing this with my son and I loved the story. It made me laugh, shiver, cry and cheer!

Iloved the whole series, i borrowed this book from my niece after she read it, but i had to have a copy for myself. classic good vs. evil with a twist.

I started reading Harry Potter at number 6, I just wanted to see what happened next, I had only watched the movies up till then. Now I must say I am hooked on the book! I had to read number 7 and now I have to go back and read them from number 1. I can not beleive what an enthrolling read they are, I finished them with lightning speed. What a wonderful story and the ending well you must find out for yourself!
