Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (DVD, 2007, 2-Disc Special Edition)

Understandably it is difficult to make a movie from a book, especially if the book is as thick as this one. However, there are much too many situations that just did not make it into the movie. It ended up with the movie looking a bit hacked. Additionally, I felt many scenes were depicted quite different from the book, which didn't need to be. This made it on the whole not a pleasant viewing. That being said, I am sure that if you have never read the book you might quite enjoy the movie.

This movie was awesome. I thought it was by far the best in the series so far. I am a huge fan of the books, the first two movies were good, and the next two were ok. This movie is just as great as the book.

The book was voluminous, but the film filtered out extraneous subplots and situations that did not support the main plot. The film was well done and I continue to care about the characters. Daniel Radcliffe has developed the character of Harry through his own development as an actor and I will continue to look forward to additional films.

I love the Harry Potter series and this movie did not disappoint. I appreciate that the characters (with the exception of Dumbledore, due to his passing away)remain the same for each movie. Can't wait for the next one!

I bought the DVD because I've read all the books and have seen the first four movies and enjoyed them enormously. The Order of the Phoenix was my favorite book and I wanted to see how they adapted it to the screen.

The movie was almost as good as the book. The only reason I say "almost" is because they had to cut so much of the book to have a reasonable length movie.

I would recommend this movie to everyone who enjoyed the Harry Potter books & movies. I would also recommend it to anyone who likes a good story!! Enjoy the movie.

I love the whole series..this one carries over details from the other films that you'll catch quickly. It is a step deeper toward the climax. These movies are watched over and over again in our house and they are timeless. Magic is always timeless.

This is the 5th movie in the Harry Potter series. The movie is better than the recent films, though doesn't measure up to the first two, which I believe are classics.

This closely follows the book with many short scenes, that are edited together well with good transition. This is the darkest story to date and may not be appropriate for youngsters. Yates does a good job as Director. I just wish the scenes were longer.

Great story, a hit for all fans. It's hard to say what is such a draw for audiences all over the world, when it comes to Harry Potter. Perhaps it is that this character appeals to both young and adult viewers, and the stories are entertaining for all generations.

What is so great about the harry potter films is that they grow with your child, they become more intellectually stimulating and more emotionally involved. This is the latest in the series of films and therefor is for desidedly older children, I'd say at least 10-12 s it is somewhat scary. This movie is very fun to watch for the whole family and this series of movies and booksis great!

I like the Potter movies, but this movie shows Harry starting to come into his own, and growing up, as he is now teaching His friends (students)how to protect themselves from evil. I can't wait for the next movies...

I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter and the 5th movie is FANTASTIC! Very adventurous, it's great to see Harry Potter and his friends grow up throughout each of their movies! For whoever loves adventure these movies AND books are an incredible buy!

I don't really like Harry Potty, but my girlfriend made me watch it. Ironically, I ended up watching all 5 Harry Potty movies. It's interesting if you pay attention to the characters and the cast. Their English accent is amusing and the storyline made me very curious about what they're going to do next or what other trouble they would find themselves in for being curious and nosy. Great movie for passing time or while having dinner. Great entertainment without spending huge amount of money going out. Especially with this economy.

I absolutely loved OotP, I loved the acting, which as only gotten better over the years, and as an avid Harry Potter reader, one does have a few tiffs about not being totally unabridged, but still worth a look at in widescreen of course.

this year at Hogwarts harry is finally going to see a part of what lies a head for him in the next years. there will be lost and love and harry will overcome this fifth year challenges and get ready for year six at Hogwarts

Emma Watson's acting, as previously mentioned, is a little forced, but at the same time it does suit the type of character she is playing, and overall it can be forgiven. I think the special effects used in the Department of Mysteries and the battle scene were fabulous, and the screenplay was excellent, particularly when you look at the screenplays from the first couple of films.

I know I really enjoyed this film and it far exceeded my expectations. While the movies will never match up to the sheer brilliance of the books, I think the Harry Potter films are 'bloody brilliant' as an additional outlet for fans and a great way to enjoy the stories in a new medium

Excellect movie, acting, direction, and everything. But as always, book is better! A must for Harry Potter fans though!

I love the series and realized I did not have this one yet. I knew I could get a better deal on ebay than at the store.

So, why buy the 2 disk special edition?
Well, maybe because one must begin to thing of the FUTURE instead of the present. Eventually, ounce the 7 movies have been released on DVD and Blu-Ray, the cost for buying all 7 movies in one pack will be really expensive. Therefore, i think it'd be wise to buy the two disk of all the movies out so far and simply safe them.

The Order was one of my favorite movies, not because of how it stuck the book (for it really didn't), but for the action and special affects that it contained. For any fan out there, this movie is really worth buying in a special edition!
