I don't think I ever waited on Christmas like I did for this book and Rowling did not disappoint me.

Deathly Hollows picks up right where The Half Blood Prince left off and Rowling doesn't miss a beat.

Our three favorite heroes know what they have to do but only have a few obscure clues to work from. They must find their own solutions on how to accomplish their misson. While this is a theme common in the other 6 books, this time there is no safety net provided by the adults. The fate of the world rests on their shoulders alone.

As they go from one adventure to the next, gaining (at first) seemingly useless information and narrowly avoiding death, they slowly piece together how everything must fit together. Even then Rowling is not yet done: the solution itself is a test, and the hardest challenge Harry ever had to take.

The book is dark and bloody, more so than The Order of the Pheonix. In case the reader had any doubt about that, Voldermort sets it straight in the very first chapter. The body count continues to go up and Rowling gives no indication of playing favorites. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is safe until the last spell is cast, somewhere in the last 10 pages or so.

While it was sad seeing so many characters I had grown attached to die, I did not have the same sense of dispair that I did with Pheonix. I never doubted for one page that good would win in the end and I could take comfort in that their sacrafices would not be in vain.

While I sincerly hope that Ms. Rowling will continue to write, I believe it is time for a new series. Harry Potter was as close to perfection as I'm likely to see in this world. I don't want that delicate balance upset.

  A satisfying ending!

Without saying too much about what happens in the book...I don't want to ruin it for anyone else, I will say that half way through the book I was feeling a little disappointed. Events were dragging along and we didn't seem to be getting anywhere with any of the plot lines. The second half of the book picked up the pace and was quite satisfying. J.K. Rowling has definitely delivered a wonderful ending to her series.

Well, to those would-be spoilers, thanks for TRYING to ruin it for everyone. I doubt anyone will believe that you've actually READ the book everyone's waiting for.

Some people have no desire to hear theories or potential spoilers about book 7, and shame on you for trying to throw them out there where people might read them when they don't want to. There is a proper place for such discussion - like the ebook about Deathly Hallows that I am selling.

One thing is for certain, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is going to be amazing, action-packed, and heart-breaking all at the same time. I can't wait - mine's already pre-ordered, is yours?

Good but not quite 5 star

*No plot spoilers

As a huge fan, I had recently re-read books 5 & 6 to get up to speed and in the mood for the Deathly Hallows. In a way, I wish I hadn't re-read them as I felt the writing in this wasn't quite up to previous standards and I even managed to read this thoroughly & cover to cover in about 12 hours.

As a previous reviewer said, I spent the first half of the book waiting for it to really get started, for explanations, twists, action. JK Rowling seemed to me, in her writing, a little rushed to get the epic over. Some of the twists that did come where unexpected, others not, but there just weren't enough of them. Some things seemed to be thrown in for convenience without a good explanation.

On the whole, I still enjoyed it. My questions were answered, albeit not always to my liking, but then what novel can keep everyone happy? Very sad to see the end of such a great storyline and in spite of my disappointments, if you've read 1-6, you should still read this last one. I'll be re-reading again, more slowly, in the hopes of finding some subtle twists and turns that I might have missed.

Just finnished the Book and have to say it was more than I could ever have hoped for. I will not give any of it away, will just say on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 10!! Would suggest that a young child should not read it till after a parent reads it first, comfort and explanation of what happens and why may be appropriate.

Harry Potter & the Deathly Halows. CD version

I have been following this series in audio book format for about the last six years. The stories themselves are exceptional, giving a great presentation of the turmoil of life and emotions of a boy growing up in the face of enormous challenges. If you enjoy hearing a good story while travelling as I do then I recommend this book. The quality of the acting in Jim Dale's reading of the book is great and the sound is clear. The overall experience is thoroughly enjoyable.

Harry Potter quality, what else to say?

I bought the book, hoping that it would be same quality as other books in series. It is one of those rare perfect books.

I started to sell books and audio books of this book and I never heard a complaint from any customer yet. They all liked it very much. I gave it as gift to friends and they all liked very much.

I wished there were other books of these quality. I enjoy reading and I suggest this book to anyone.

I love the action and the brillant mind of the author. on how to tie in all seven years. From the beginning to the end, there were turns that was amazing. From snape to the end where potter married ginny with kids name after snape and haed master. Love all the potter books. Great read. I am 35 years old, and The potter books started me reading books, instead of the sports page all the time.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, wow, it was everything I expected it to be. A great book, excellent read, just like all the Harry Potter books. Deathly Hallows left no stone unturned, it answers every question and wraps up the series very nicely.

This is a must read for any Harry Potter fan (but do read the other 6 first, or you will be lost).

I could not put this one down once I started reading it. You will love this book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows CD
Review created: 05/05/08

This is the final book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The Deathly Hallows ties up many of the loose ends in the series, but also offers many possibilities for Ms. Rowling or any author she may allow to use the world she has created. The Epilogue in the Deathly Hollows leaves this door wide open.

I have discussed these books with many other parents and I would like to address people's concerns about magic. People talk about magic being "of the devil". First and foremost this is a work of fiction. Children learn to succeed by using their imaginations. Harry Potter starts life at a serious disadvantage as an orphan raised by selfish, fearful, people. Harry remains a kind, compassionate child as his world changes in ways he cannot begin to imagine. He befriends scary beings and people who are vastly different from himself.

Throughout the series Harry exhibits the highest standards of nobility and courage. Parents need to recognize the magic as imagination and see that the underlying theme of these books is the struggle between good and evil. Through Harry and his friends good wins and evil is destroyed.

The world needs Harry Potter.

I love all the Potter books, some more than others. This last book was great. Lots of surprises. I was right about many things and surprised about others. I am a firm Christian and find nothing wrong about this series. Good human values are taught thru out all the books.Harry is a hero that all children can relate to and learn from. I would hate to think this is the last we hear from Harry.

JK Rowling amazes again! Couldn't have written better.

JK has a "magical" power of captivating the reader's attention by giving little subtle tid bits of information that leave you earning for more. This book leaves you with a satisfied feeling at the end of a lengthy and amazing saga. She takes her time showing the trio's amazing friendship, comradery and ultimate love for one another. She shows that not only can good triumph over evil but how it is important to sacrifice whatever necessary (even your life) for the "great good" of all mankind. There are great lessons learned in this final book and the ending gives a resounding hope and happiness in living life as a good and moralistic person(s). Any questions that you may have had about any of the characters in these books are completely and thoroughly answered. This is definitely a book to be read and re-read again. You will always get more information each time you read it. JK my hat's off to you!!! I am completely and thoroughly amazed!!! Thanks for your final Harry Potter masterpiece!!! : - ) : - )

I highly recommend getting this audiobook to any True Harry Potter Fan. Hearing the story read to you is absolutely amazing! Jim Dale is an amazing storyteller!! You can not beat him. He uses several character voices, lots of emotion and amazing intonation while narrating the story. He adds flare to the entire novel and brings the experience to a new level. There are many little descriptions, bits of information and feeling that can be lost while reading the novel yourself. Especially if you read fast, like I did to satisfy my ravenous hunger for the final conclusion. Hearing it by this amazing narrator will give you a whole new fresh perspective and you will truly be understanding the novel through JK Rowling's vision. If you like to read books, why not listen at the same time? This will bring more comprehension and enjoyment to the story. Buy the audiobook now!!!!

I'm a fan, a huge fan (who's in the house of Huffelpuff). This is one of the better books. A little slow-ish in the middle, but it picks up in the last few chapters. Please read the books in order. This isn't one of those Star Wars, watch episode four first, types.

Also, read more fan fic, trivia etc at http://harrypotter.pnn.com

Review created: 11/02/09

The last in the series and has lots of suspense. Just when you think the hero can never survive things happen and Harry becomes a complete person and knows that not everything is pumpkin juice. There is lots of room for others to tell THE REST OF THE STORY and the world awaits. Excellent reading for young adults and up and I have read and listened to this book several times.

Deathly Hallows - Works Like Magic on House Work
Review created: 10/03/09
by:

Its the Magic that J. K. Rowling's has in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows allowing you to live the story about characters in the Harry Potter series. Listen to this on Compact Disc for Magical Entertainment while doing the not so magical work around the house. You don't want to miss life in action of the characters and before long, almost like magic you've completed a major amount of work. Its worked so well the family is now reviewing the whole collection, at different areas of the house and you may find yourself in different Magical parts of the series. Works like Magic on getting house work done.
