As Always, Melissa Surpasses Our Expectations

I've been a fan of the Harry Potter books and films since the lull between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix (interestingly enough, about the same time that Melissa because interested). It wasn't long after I finished the books that had been released at that time that I found Mugglenet, and soon thereafter stumbled across The Leaky Cauldron. I have been a daily visitor to both ever since, as well as a devoted listener to both Pottercast and Mugglecast.
Melissa paints a picture in this book that can only be told from her unique perspective. On the forefront of all things Potter, she has seen the fandom at its best and at its worst. She has had the privilege of working closely with the great minds behind the books and films. Furthermore, she has the artistic skill to tell her story to those of us who have long thirsted for a knowledge and deeper understanding of that world...her world.
But while the growth of a fandom is intriguing, what really makes this book stand out is the story of how the fandom helped to grow Melissa as a person. As you read what might be considered more her biography than Harry's, you finish the book picturing a much different woman than when you began.
The point of Harry, A History, I think, is this -- to show the impact and potential for good that this series has and has had on scores of individuals, particularly in the life of one devoted journalist. I loved every minute of it.
Melissa -- here's to many more bestsellers in your future!
