Movie Description The second film in Ferzan Ozpetek's erotic trilogy (bookended by STEAM: THE TURKISH BATH and HIS SECRET LIFE), HAREM is set against the backdrop of early 1900's Baghdad. Near the end of the Ottoman Empire, Safiye (Marie Gillain), one of the Sultan's harem girls, becomes his favorite concubine, then his wife. When the Empire finally falls, the Sultan escapes to Europe, leaving behind his concubines. Safiye then attempts to use her influence to fight for the members of the harem under the new regime.
