The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp M.D. (2002, Hardcover, Illustrated)

heard about this book through the grapevine. wish we had known about it Nov 7 2008 the day AFTER our granddaughter was born as it would have saved everyone's sanity from a COLICKY BABY these last 4 months! the info is this book is a GODSEND. thank you Dr Karp for saving our family from a group nervous breakdown! we'll use this info until she's a toddler and then we'll use your other book "the happiest toddler on the block" to use on her as that would be better than using ducttape. Get Dr. Karp's books/cds/dvds even if your baby is "perfect", GREAT INFO you can use.

Our doctor actually recommeded it to us and it was written by a doctor who delt with many babies. My girlfriend loved it and learned a lot from it. Every baby is different so everything might not be true for your baby.

I bought this for my daughter -in -law, who just had her third baby. She just loved the book , so I am now bidding on another copy for my other daughter-in-law who is pregnant for the first time. It was recommended by a friend's daughter. The book was in good condition and shipped to us promptly.

This book is awesome! Though some might find Dr. Karp's "missing fourth trimester" theory a little far-fetched ( I sort of did), his tips on how to calm a fussy baby are tops! I am expecting and I read this book because my husband was a fussy baby and I was woried our new arrival might be the same. My sister-in-law has four children under the age of four and they have ALL been colicky, fussy babies. Her youngest is 8 weeks old and has taken her to her wits end with colic. I shared a few tips from the book with her. She shrugged them off at first because she had tried a few of them before separately. On day she brought the kids over and the baby began to get fussy. I tried Dr. Karp's "cuddle cure" and within minutes, my baby nephew was content and sound asleep. He even sat through 2 hours of July 4th fireworks and never made a peep and he's only 8 weeks old! My sister-in-law was convinced Dr. Karp knows what he is talking about and so am I. Now I'm not worried about my baby being colicky or fussy because I know that I have the tools to calm him. Thanks Dr. Karp!

As brand new parents (baby born 2/27/06), we've read a gazillion baby books, and this one was by far the most useful in an actual practical sense. Advice you can USE (re: how to soothe a baby) delivered in a humorous but not silly manner.
