Synopsis As the title of this memoir sardonically notes, spouses abandon each other and their families every day. In the case of couples with a Hollywood connection, such as actress Isabel Gillies and her former husband, the ratio probably increases to several times per day. Somehow, Gillies transforms her "everyday" sorrow into something extraordinary through her telling of the events which transpired before and after her husband, Josiah, left her (and their two children) for a colleague at the university where he taught. While she does not transform the tragedy into triumph, Gillies is able to mend her heartbreak by shifting the essence of her emotional response from revenge to resignation.
