I like this book much better than the other soapmaking books I have. This has beautiful pictures and great illustrations of the soapmaking process. I lOVE the addition of the recipes for bath bags, bath fizzies, hair rinse and the packaging ideas. Great recipe sizes. Just be aware that some of the recipes do include animal fat, I believe most of the time it can be replaced with palm oil but make sure to check the lye calculator before doing so. I highly recomend this book for the new soaper!

Yes I have the book, yes I use it sometimes. Everybody told me I just had to get this book when I started out soaping. While it is very good and better than most soaping books,it is not as good as I would have thought it would be. I don't use the recipies from this book. I feel it makes soaping harder and less fun than the way we do it now. That said, the pictures are fantastic and the packaging ideas are welcome. The troubleshooting section is terrific! Still, we continue to make our soaps our way and they turn out wonderfully. Why should we change? We think we have found perfection!

I love this book! I highly recommend it!
) I love this book! Melinda Coss is funny, informative, and her instructions gave me the confidence to make my first batch of soap. I have made 4 batches in the last month, with no failures! She guides you through each step with the patience of a good teacher.
I bought this book because it didn't look like a boring, tedious, instruction manual, and was full of beautifully illustrated pictures. Pictures of the finished product are important to me, and it is so satisfying to see my finished product look like the pictures in the book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone just starting out in the endeavor of soap making.
