Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult (2009, Hardcover)

Handle with Care is the newest novel from Jodi Picoult. This author has a real skill for taking a subject that has polarized views and presenting the story without having an obvious villain or winner. This book is about Willow, a child born with a disease that has left her with very fragile bones. Her mother sues her doctor for not recognizing the problem earlier in the pregnancy – a doctor who also happens to be her best friend. This book gripped me from beginning to end. Each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the main characters so you are able to get inside the head of each one of them. I always enjoy the way Picoult’s books make me think. Much like most things in life, there is not always a black and white but more shades of grey than one can imagine.

I purchased this book because I have a grandchild who has OI and I thought it would be interesting to see how others might have handled the issues. I was instead highly disappointed by the legal approach declaring that the medical community was negligent and liable for a "wrongful birth" While I know that cases can be more or less difficult what I was looking for was a life-affirming book and what I found was a life denying story.

I LOVED this book - one of the best books I have read in years. It covers everything - marriage, frienships, parenting, abortion, eating disorders, legal system, and more. I have recommended this book to my family and friends, and so far everyone has really enjoyed it.

I love all of her books. This one should come close to everyones hearts. We all have know somone who has been ill in our lives. There is always a twist in her writings. Not always a good twist, but it makes you think about what we take for granted each day! She is an amazing writer.

Jodi Picoult cannot write fast enough for me. She was so not my type of author or so I thought, picked up "19 Minutes" and I was hooked. I was reading it in line at the stores, taking lunch in the car, and reading while family was watching TV. Can't wait for "Sister's Keeper" to come out in the theaters.

Once again, Jodi Picoult is not afraid to cover a touchy subject- all the 'what ifs' surrounding the birth and rearing of a child with disabilities. I really liked the way she wrote each chapter in a different voice- mom, dad, sister, friend and lawyer. The ultimate question- What constitutes a life worth living?- is left for each reader to decide. Two thumbs up!

It is very good reading as are all of Jodi's book. It is very similar to other books she has written and you much look out for the ending.

I love Jodi Picoult books, and have almost all in my library. However, the last few I've read I've been able to predict the ending. I still encourage other reading enthusiasts to pick up a Jodi book and enjoy.

Just got into reading Jodi Picoult books and haven't read one I didn't like, hopefully I can find the time to sit now and relax with another good book!

You are engrossed from the beginning. One you can't put down. Jodi makes the characters come alive.

I decided to buy this book because this author is one of my favorites. It arrived timely and was purchased with several other books by the same author. Also appears to be in like new condition which is a plus when purchasing books. I highly recommend this book and author.

As usual with Jodi Picoult books it kept my interest throughout the book. I definately could see both sides of the story and as a mother sypathized with the mom and why she did what she did. But I was sad by the end.

I have read several of Jodi Picoult's books and enjoy the surprising twist each of her books includes. "Handle With Care" was similar to another Picoult book "My Sister's Keeper". In both you are able to briefly put yourself into the families shoes to what they may experience in their everyday life. I found myself not wanting to put "Handle With Care" down until I finished the last page.

I would say exellent but the last page ruined the whole story for me.
The book itself was a great Picoult novel, similar to My Sister's Keeper.

I got the book because I like the author and I was not disappointed.
It was a excellent book like all her books are. It was a hard book to put down.
Very touching story and makes you think.
