Handkerchiefs by Barbara Guggenheim, Helene Guarnaccia (2003, Hardcover)

A fabulous guide to handkerchiefs of the past, this 303 page book is overflowing with gorgeous photographs of hankies from every category, accompanied by reasonable estimates of their value. I particularly like the numerous photos of individual hankies, sized to give you an opportunity to closely examine their details. I would have appreciated more written backgound relating to the history of the handkerchief, but this book more than makes up for it with so many wonderful photos. The last few pages include some cute and interesting ideas for displaying hankies. I purchased the hardcover version and plan to use it as a coffee table book when I'm not using as a reference to assist me in collecting & selling vintage hankies.

A good reference for hanky collectors with excellent illustrations. This was the first book I read as a beginning collector and it launched me into being an organized, knowledgeable and discriminating collector.
