Great book for the collector of ancient coins. I have found it invaluable for identification purposes. Contains wonderful sections on translating inscriptions, identifying emporers & mint marks, and dating coins. Good pictures and historical background information.
This book offers a good introduction to identifying ancient greek and roman coins for a novice collector. I bought it to become more familiar with a new hobby I picked up in cleaning and identifying ancient coins. It offers a good starting point and I am satisfied with the purchase.
This is a great reference for identifying ancient coins. Coins must be cleaned and identifiable...but that's obvious. A fun educational book and quality reference.
This is the right text to turn to when the perspective of going to RIC takes more time than you have. Of course you need clean (or at least legible) coins: otherwise, How on earth do you expect to find specific data beyond the most ovbious ones (i.e. you know sestertius are large, denarius are silver, etc,)? A good way to use it is to first identify the group to which your coin belongs, then turn to RIC. Saves hours. Useful, practical, clear, and user-friendly.
delivery was great, the book was wonderful i would have liked more detail on the greek coins cause i have some greek coins that i cleaned up and still can't determine the era. the thing i like is the dates on the coins in the book the area where they were made and so on but thank you for the book nobody local had it, well i am rambling anyway thank you and i hope you keep selling stuff on ebay
This book is a very good over all handbook. However if you are trying to identify a coin that you have cleaned, the book is not is just OK. It has many pictures with front and back. Over all a good handbook.
