Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360, 2009)

If your a fan of Halo 3...this game is for you. Its a very short campaign, but the online is on the same level as the online for Halo 3. Literally its the same online experience from halo 3. You keep your old ranks, your old EXP, everything. They have added a few new maps and a few new types of team play.

Overall, Halo Fans will enjoy this. But for someone who just likes online play, like me, play this till COD comes out in November!

This game has an amazing overall feeling to it. The only reason I gave the controls a lower score is simply because I'm so used to playing on 10 sensitivity and in ODST it's slower than previous Halo games. And in Firefight it's even slower. I hope this is soon fixed with a patch. But the rest of the game is amazing. I played through the first time on Heroic and found that I was constantly challenged by new things. The storyline is excellent in how it has the character searching the city for clues on what happened to the rest of his squad. I'm not going to spoil it, but the ending is amazing and left me quite awed. Really it made me just drop the controller where I sat.

Firefight is an awesome gamemode. It's basically a zombie mode where you see how long you can last through wave after wave of Covenant attackers. And it's intense. When you get 4 players in it, then you can play for hours and never lose interest. I was left wanting to play more, but I had to go home. I love the fact that you can do Firefight online but the fact that there's no matchmaking was a bummer. I'd love to just play firefight with some random people. Hopefully it'll come in an update.

Having all the maps on a disc is an amazing add. It allows you to keep your profile with you and not having to leave your profile logged in so people can use the maps. And you can take them with you anywhere without having to lug around the hard drive then have to plug into Live later.

All in all it's an amazing game and I say buy it.

I decided to buy this game because I'm practically in love with Halo. I have Halo 1-3, Halo Wars and now ODST. I even have most of the collectible figurines.
Halo 3: ODST's graphics were amazing but the campaign was a little different than I thought it was going to be. Your objectives were different in a way that you had to keep running around in circles around this map and it was getting sickening. You would always tell yourself "haven't I already been here?" I also can't believe that it has a separate disk just for xbox live? Weird. But anyways, I still loved the game even though I didn't like or agree with a few things it had to offer. :)

For the first time in Bungie history, a Halo game is released and Master Chief is not included. Though this may steer people away from the game (and I admit I was wary at first), this game is fun and complete without the Halo hero. The campaign is like a murder mystery and you soon forget that Master Chief isn't around.

In the campaign, you take the role of the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, or ODST. These highly-trained, but not quite super, soldiers don't have all of the strengths of Master Chief. They can only aim one weapon at a time (no dual wielding), they have a health bar that requires health packs to restore once their light overshield is depleted, and they can't jump as high or fall as far or take as many bullets without dying. Personally, these differences were hard to notice and your ODST is definitely not some regular Joe. They handle quite like Master Chief did in Halo: Combat Evolved, and they have a powerful scoped pistol to complete the throwback feel.

A wonderful addition is Firefight. With those familiar with Call of Duty or Gears of War, Firefight is the Halo version of Nazi Zombies and Horde. This mode is extremely fun and is a must play for any shooter genre fan, and especially worth the look for a Halo fan.

The campaign and Firefight together make this game more than just a random expansion of Halo 3 before Halo: Reach is released next year. This game is excellent and a must play for previous Halo players. For what started off as a small idea for a simple expansion, this game turned out to be more than something that only Halo fans could be interested in. Halo 3: ODST is one of the better games released this year.

What I Like: the firefight mode in halo 3 odst, which is awesome, a new campaign

What I love: was the the whole halo 3 maps plus 3 more, now i dont have to buy them with microsoft points.

What I Dislike: can't play firefight with people on xbox live only, u hav to invite ur friends in order to play with them otherwise you'll go at it alone.

Finally some fresh Halo action. Love the campaign story and the new firefight game type. (Kind of like the horde on Gears2) You also get the 3 final mythic maps on the multiplayer disc that is also included.

I just got the campaign disk as I was not interested in the online play for the Halo franchise, too caught up in COD 4!

In this game you do not play a Spartan like Master Chief, you play an ODST trooper (Orbital Drop Shock Troops), so you're not quite as strong or tough. You do get to sneak so you don't actually have to fight every time or everyone.

You go by the name/title Rookie in this one BUT you also get to play/relive what other troopers have done/will do thru psuedo flashbacks.

For those who happen to be fans of Firefly/Serenity this an special treat as the voices of Mal (Nathan Fillion), Wash (Alan Tudyk) and Jane (Adam Baldwin) are in it. Trisha Helfer from Battlestar Gallactica also shows up.

All in all an enjoyable game altho not quite as long as I expected, much like Halo 3 itself.

Halo 3: ODST was such a great branch game from the original Halo series. It kept a lot of the similar game play that we all have come to know and love from the original Halo series and have added some new things to it to make it unique. Plus, you get a chance to play the Beta of Halo: Reach, and who wouldn't want that?

This is a great extension of the Halo series. The new tools and avaiable data give to you are incredible. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of any of the Halo games, as well as any first person shooter games.

As always, bungie has created a great multi-player. Halo never disapoints when you look at the multiplayer games... The new fire-fight mode is a fun copy of Gears of War's idea. Fighting waves of enemies on one map with 3 friends.
**** They have to be in your friends list by the way. No online matching for this mode.****

HOWEVER the solo campaign is a big let down. There where no improvements from halo 3, and frankly it was worse. I look for improved gameplay, graphics, story-line, etc... The only noticeable changes were a couple weapons, sound track, and the story-line. The sound track was horrible... didn't fit the game. The weapons... just a slightly modified pistol and smg. The story-line... short, slow, boring.

Honestly, Bungie was just "milking" the Halo series for more $$$$$. Not a horrible game, but not a lot of new ideas in this one.

First off, I was extremely skeptical of this game. I half assumed that this game was going to be little more than a half baked attempt to squeeze out a little bit more money from the Halo franchise. That feeling changed after a good weekend of play. Halo 3: ODST is a completely new view of the Halo universe. In my opinion, it brings a well needed change to the Halo franchise. As a non-genetically enhanced human being one must choose better battle positions and strategies as well as take a more meticulous approach to aiming and timing of grenades. No longer can you just muscle your way out of any situation as the intimidating Master Chief. I love the new approach that Bungie has taken to gameplay. No longer does the game feel like arcade levels with small blips of cinematic scenes in between. It has evolved into a more inquisitive form of gaming. I mean, running around gathering clues, fighting battles in other people's shoes, and being able to virtually see in the dark makes this a truly unique Halo experience. I would easily give Halo 3: ODST a 9 out of 10.

Brings back some great Halo 1-esque gameplay. A totally new twist on the Halo series. You take control of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, along with VISR vision and a scoped silenced pistol and SMG.

Includes new campaign and firefight survival mode (no, Gears of War did not invent the concept of "Horde"). Also includes multiplayer from Halo 3 with all of the downloadable content and three new maps.

Firefight mode never gets old. The gameplay is new and fresh every play-through. Infinite replay value

Excellent Gameplay, Directing, Music, and Storyline. Following the platform of the rest of the Halo Trilogy, Bungie has once again managed to make video games a form of art.

The only thing I can complain about is the full price, but I assure you, Firefight makes up for lack of new multiplayer, and you can get the game cheaper on eBay

Fastest shipment ever received! The price by far is the best that I have came upon for this Xbox game.

This game is a fantastic addition to Halo 3. Playing from the ODST's perspective gives a new edge to the game. A player has to be more aware of what is going on around themselves and work with their team members. The firefight mode can go on for hours of fun.

However, this game reaches its limits. Playing Co-op legendary goes by pretty quickly. The ending is anti-climatic. If you are looking for a fun play and the addition of new maps to Halo 3 multiplayer then pick up this game. It is not worth buying brand new, might as well pick up a used copy.

Halo: ODST is a good buy, bordering on an excellent buy if you are a huge Halo fan. The campaign, though short, is interesting and different, and the Firefight multiplayer mode is an excellent addition to the Halo gaming universe. It's fun solo and in a group.

I recommend this game to any gamers, especially Halo fans.

Brilliant Return to the Halo universe
Gameplay, storyline, and options available have masterfully recrafted.
A total must have to your Halo Game line up and thats just the singleplayer side. Great multiplayer, being seperate instead of an integrated addon was cool idea as it includes maps you'll need, instead of having to download/buy from xbox live.
