Halley's Bible Handbook by Henry H. Halley (1961, Hardcover, Revised)

This is a great book, especially for the lay person who doesn't know biblical languages or have time to do cultural backgrond and word studies in the Bible. I love reading it before I begin a study in a book. I even enjoy picking it up and reading about random subjects. If you can get a used copy for cheap, it would be a good addition to any Bible scholar's library.

Very pleased with purchase. It was a good price and I received it quickly. Bought it for a pastor friend who had lost his copy.

This is one of the best Bible resource books for the new (or even older) Christian. It summarizes every chapter in the Bible so even the most difficult passages are made clear. I highly recommend it.

Very helpful to the Bible Reader..A Must Have !!

I bought this book on the recomendation of a friend. It is very helpful to me in the historical aspects of the Bible. There are tons of maps and illustrations and a good index. It is the type of book you can pick up and read for a few minutes or for hours. The book is a littls small, about 8 by 5 inches with over 850 pages. I wish it were a little bigger with fewer pages but all in all, I pick it up just about every day and find something interesting every time. If you go to Bible study, this book will help.

This is a old [1979] Bible handbook. I realy liked the price 75cents plus $3.99 delivery.The book has a rather odd size 4 1/2 x 7 x 1 1/2. I, as a Pentecostal wonder how the author could in good conscience, overlook so many instances of the Baptizem in the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts.

This is a must book for any bible reader. It explains the bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter. I've read my bible for over 50 yrs and thought I knew it. I did not! Especially Revelations. Before I read the bible now, I first pick up the Halley's handbook for that specific area and then read the bible. Every bible reader should own this book. Without a doubt, this is the most comprehensive book explaining the bible in everyday language. Outside the bible, this is the most important book I own.

It not only explains the bible, but it goes into great detail the history of the church, archaeology, and everything one needs to know about any subject in the bible.

I first came across this book in Sunday school. I was so captivated that I ordered one immediately. I find it on eBay at a very modest price. Enough said!
