The Hallelujah Trail (DVD, 2001, Western Legends)

I've loved this movie since I was a kid. I was able to find it on VHS several years ago, but the Panavision shots were too wide for the standard TV format. This DVD, in widescreen, keeps all of the original movie shots, without any of the annoying panning back and forth that was on the VHS version.

The only thing I didn't like about the DVD was that there is a very long musical overture before the movie starts - and I'm OK with that - except that there is nothing but a black screen during this - and this is the very first thing you get when you start the movie. Some sort of titling saying "Overture", or something like that would have been nice - at first, I wasn't sure if the disk was defective or what. Aside from that, it's a great move, done well on DVD, the picture and sound are quite good, and to anyone who enjoys western comedies, this is definately one to add to your collection.

Ths was such a fun movie to watch I totally loved it!
I had seen it years ago. and had forgotten about it,then I all of a sudden remembered the name. and went immediately into ebay, and found it, of course. It is just so darling. I would recommend it to anyone that likes the older westerns, and like to laugh.

This Is A Very Funny Movie!
What I Like about this movie, Is that it has a Cartoon Style about it,
ther's alot of misunderstanding, and everyone runs around with there
heads cut off.(A Matter Of Speeking)
The Indians are very confused, and the Soldier's and everyone else
are trying to get Whiskey to there destination that never arrives.

What I Dislike about the Movie!
there is'nt anything about the movie itself I dislike,
the only thing I dont care for is that on this disk, they put
the ORINGINAL Movie Version from the Movie Theater,
with a Blank Screen with music playing, and in the middle INNERMISSION,
and at the end a blank screen with music, just as if you were leaving
the theater. (all three of these blank Screens, take 3 Min a piece)

Why Did I Decide to buy it?
thats easy, I Saw it on Television, and I Could'nt Stop Laughing.

Seen it before, well worth having, hilarious!!! Had a lot of action, Indians were so funny.. great acting, good plot, Funny, Funny, Funny!!!

I bought it for my husband for Christmas. He seen that movie a long time ago and he liked it. I am glad that i was able to find it.

This is probably the first Western Comedy that I had ever seen as a young man. I taped it from the TV but my VHS wore out. I was so thrilled to see it on DVD here on eBay. I didn't even know it had been reproduced, otherwise, I'd have had a DVD copy a long time ago. I never get tired of watching it, and it always makes for a great evening with your friends, popcorn and a favorite beverage. ENJOY!

This is probably my favourite comedy western of all. I defy anyone to watch this film and not fall about laughing. I must have watched this over many years about 100 times and still I always enjoy it. How the stars, who have been expertly cast in their roles managed to make the film without cracking up I`ll never know.

I bought this movie for my dad and sat down and watched it! It's my favorite western! This is a must have for all Western Movie lovers!

This movie was funnier than I remembered. Very predicatable, simple, but fun.
The DVD cleaned up the sound compared to commercial TV release. I had only seen this movie on commercial TV never in the theater.

Downright funny, hilarious. Burt Lancaster in one of his funniest comedies if not his only. Brian Keith as the mean Wagon master bringing the winter supply of liquor to a dry Colorado town and facing run-ins with Indians, Temperance marchers, the town militia, striking Irish wagon drivers, and a trail full of hidden quicksand holes. Absolutely great movie, I cannot think of anything dislikable about this comedy
