Synopsis Faced with a dull summer in the city, Jane, Mark, Katharine, and Martha suddenly find themselves involved in a series of extraordinary adventures after Jane discovers an ordinary-looking coin that seems to grant wishes.
Siblings Jane, Mark, Katherine, and Martha are enduring a dull summer under the watchful eye of their dislikable babysitter Miss Bick. Everything changes however, when Jane happens upon a magical coin--one that has the ability to grant exactly half of whatever the wisher requests. It takes the siblings a few tries to understand how to harness this strange type of magic, but once they do, they have a series of amazing adventures, including an accidental trip to the desert and a meeting with Sir Lancelot. Heavily inspired by the works of E. Nesbit (author of such books as THE MAGIC CITY, and THE RAILWAY CHILDREN), author Edward Eager includes a tribute to her in HALF MAGIC, as he does in all of his works for children. Occasional B&W illustrations accompany the text.
