HP PhotoSmart 618 2.1 Megapixel

The PhotoSmart 618 is a 2.1-megapixel digicam that provides enough exposure control and flexibility to interest sophisticated photo enthusiasts, while still offering a comfortable experience for the beginning photographer. Overall, it is a worthy competitor in the 2-megapixel-with-zoom digicam category, and certainly worth consideration for anyone shopping for a good all-around performer in that resolution range.

I got one of these for a total of $20 on ebay, having owned one before that my wife broke. I have to say, for the price, it's the best camera you could buy right now. The Pentax lens is the important part. It takes clear shots. You can't take super-closeups, such as coins, but reasonable closeups, such as figurines to sell on ebay. This is also easy to use for my wife and daughter. It takes simple AA bateries and CompactFlash cards, which are ultra cheap now. The pictures are definitely photo-store, 35mm quality and better. I also have a serious digital camera, but do find myself taking the $20 HP everywhere just because of convenience. With a 258MB card, I could take hundreds of pics with the camera and pick the best ones to print later; burn the rest on CDs for posterity. Do buy this camera if you see it for $30 or less on ebay.

great camera, easy to use. But won't do movie mode or avi. Best picture I have seen for simple camera, CCD and Pentax lens are great foundations. Easy on batteries. NiMH's work fine. Fast on and off. Display does not turn on with power up but the top side lcd panel shows it's working. A single button press turns on the display on the back. This is for power saving. Doen't do real close up work. Well worth the 30 bucks I got it here for.

I wanted inexpensive digital camara for my daughter thought about the fisher price one but decided aganst it due to the price this one is perfect i printed out some pics and they printed just as well as my very expensive pentex. even went back to buy one for a family member i was so impresses

The camera takes good pictures but it is slow about taking the pictures. When you click to take the picture it pauses first. My little one often moves or turns before the picture is taken. But the pictures are very clear and excellent for shots of non-moving items.

I purchased this camera as a first digital camera for a 14-year-old girl for Christmas. Not wanting to invest several hundred dollars into something I wasn't sure she was going to us, I picked this one out of all the others because of HP's solid name in easy, point-and-shoot models. I opened the box and everything was neatly packaged with a really archaic parallel port card reader, no installation software and no manual. All of that was fine and dandy because I'm not technologically without, so I downloaded the software necessary and dug out an old USB cord that would work with this model and XP recognized it immediately. Everything was grand. The camera has some great extras, such as being able to watermark each photo with a personalized message. The photos it has taken thus far have been quite exceptional considering it is only 2.1 megapixels and the child really seems to be enjoying using it. The ease of use would make it an appropriate first camera for a person of any age I would think.

I bought because I thought it was a good price for that brand name camera. I taken about a dozen pictures and not it won't turn on. I even bought brand new batteries and it still will not turn on.

I had an old Vivitar digital camera, and it refused to take pictures outside, in fact it washed everything out to a bright white if I tried, so I knew it was time to find a new camera, but with three kids, I didn't want to spend a fortune on it.

I found an HP Photosmart camera, at a price I could live with and got it. My first test was to try to take a picture outside in the middle of the day. Low and behold it worked wonderfully! In fact, I am loving the pictures that it takes! The colors are better, and it doesn't take much at all. I have had nothing but fun with it.

The one thing I don't like, is that on my old camera I could hold 30-40 photos without a memory card. With my my HP camera, I can olny get 24 pictures without the memory card, so now I am on the hunt for a memory card for it before vacation.

This model my be older, but if you are looking for a good camera, at a reasonible price, then this would work wonderfully for you.

im didnt like it when i received it bacause it didnt work right.it wouldnt stay on it was a misrepentation of the quality of the product they dont need to sell stuff say that it works and it dosent.i like it because of the name brand and it was what i wanted.,but will not buy from that seller again they did refund my money less the shipping charges but since it didnt work they should have rtefunded me the shipping charges too.

I really like this camera, even though it's only 2.0 MP (My other camera is 7.0 MP). It has weight and heft, like film cameras of the past. It has a viewfinder in addition to the LCD display. It takes great pictures!

I now own two digital cameras, and much prefer this one over the other. Having a background in 35mm I like this one because it handles and feels like my old 35. It is easy to handle and takes great pictures. You will see some of them on ebay. I highly recommend this camera.

WELL I REALLY LIKED THE CAMERA, I ALWAYS WANTED A DIGITAL CAMERA BUT I HAD IT FOR A SHORT TIME. IT STOPPED TAKING PICTURES. I BOUGHT NEW RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES/CHARGER AND A NEW PHOTO CARD. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. SO I CONTACTED THE SELLER AND THEY TOLD ME TO SEND IT BACK TO THEM AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT SO I DID. THEY WROTE ME AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAMERA THAT IT CHECKED OUT FINE. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT. A FRIEND OF MINE ALSO TRIED TO TAKE PICTURES AND IT JUST WOULDN'T WORK. SO THEY REFUNDED $20.00 BACK TO ME. SO SOMETIME I WILL TRY AGAIN.

This is an excellent full feature camera at a very low price. Seems to be an abundance of these for sale.

The camera works well enough for an inferior quality camera. The delivery was fast and the seller was businesslike.

This used/refurbished camera was purchased as a Christmas gift for a child. We were looking for something better then a kids camera but did not want to invest alot of money. Camera came through in great shape, good zooming ability and battery life. The only disadvantage was the camera was a bit bigger and heavier then expected but the child was still thrilled with the gift.

I am unable review this product as I never received this item. Instead the seller shipped me a reconditioned Tracfone (cell phone). I am currently in Dispute Resolution with Paypal over this transaction.

I got this camera for my son. I bought it because of the price and he doesn't need a high resolution. It is a great beginner camera for him. It is easy to use and takes good pictures. The only thing I don't like is it did not come with the rechargeable batteries so we are using standard AA batteries.

What a camera!.... Better than most of the other 3. somethings that I have owned. Really a QUALITY camera.

I like the cheap price on this cam.Its performance was okay not too good, but not bad.I would reccomend this camera on a budget.
