NATALIE WOODS AND ROSALIND RUSSELL AND OTHERS PLAY IN THIS GREAT MOVIE.IT,S ABOUT A FAMILY THAT GOES INTO SHOW BIZ AND THEIR MOTHER KEEPS PUSHING THEM TO DO MORE AND KEEPS THEM WORKING HARDER TO BE A STAR,AS SHE ONCE WANTED TO BE,THAT WAS HER DREAM BUT SHE NEVER WENT FOR IT AND WORKED HARD ENOUGH,SO SHE BECAME THE KIDS MANGER(ROSALIND PLAYS THE MOTHER.THEY GO FROM TOWN TO TOWN PLAYING IN ALL KINDS OF RAT HOLES AND WORK THEIR WAY UP.NATALIE PLAYS HER DAUGHTER.AS SHE GROWS OLDER SHE WANTS TO DO ACTS ON HER OWN.FINALLY AFTER THE LITTLEST GIRL LEAVES,ROSALIND STARTS TO NOTICE HER DAUGHTER NATALIE HAS AN ACT FOR SHOW BIZ,SO SHE HELPS HER.BUT NATALIE START TO REALLY GROW UP AND SHE STARTS A NEW ACT THAT SHE FALLS INTO BECAUSE OF HER MOTHER,AND STARTS TO REALLY LIKE IT.SHE HAS A NAME FOR HERSELF AND BY THIS TIME HER MOTHER THINKS SHE'S NO HELP ANY MORE FOR HER. I THINK THIS MOVIE IS A CLASSIC I LOVED IT, VERY CLASSY,AND IT HAD ALOT OF COMEDY IN IT, EVEN THE SONGS! I DIDN,T LIKE THE WIDESCREEN VERSION. BUT IT'S A GREAT MOVIE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE, IT'S A CLASSIC. (PEACE)!! :~)

This product was exactly what expected it to be. It was genuine and nothing less than I would expect if I were to purchase something in person.

The first hour of this boring, long movie could be skipped to make at least something interesting out of it. And Rosalynd Russell is, as ussual, over the top in an annoying way.

To get a 30+ year old movie in the wraper unopened is great, I like that. Writing a longer review is hade for me. I like short, to the point and simple.

The best thing about this DVD is that it preserves the wonderful "Musical Fable" GYPSY. Although some liberties were taken when the quintessential best musical of all times reached Hollywood, the integrity of the production remains solid. A brilliant score by Jule Styne & Steven Sondheim, along with the perfect book by Arthur Laurents makes GYPSY the "Show of Shows" always and forever. If you missed seeing the original Broadway production starring ETHEL MERMAN (for whom the show was written), or the close-to-the-original 2008 revival starring PATTI LUPONE, this film version will bring you the basic elements of the stage production. Superb performances by Rosalind Russell and Natalie Wood, along with great costumes and choreography, are captured on film forever. This is a don't-miss entertainment delight!!! No melodramatic tripe here, just pure ENTERTAINMENT captured on film forever.

the movie came in sealed and was in very very good condition. It played proberly. My wife and I love old movies and had seen it many years ago it was fun exciting and done in very good tast. It had value there for my 9 year old to see that when you really want someting bad enough and you push hard you get it. The color as excellent quility as great and I received it very quickly

Natalie Wood has always been a fantastic actress. She showed early on that she had what it takes to be a great actress. Her portrayal of Gypsy Rose Lee is outstanding. This is a story with alot of heart. But the best is the realistic job she does in the lead role. If you have never seen it, maybe it is time you did. The adventure is well worth the cost of admission.

I really love musicals. One of my all time favorites. Glad to now have it in my collection of musicals now.

AS long as I can remember I have been a NATALIE WOOD FAN - this movie - GYPSY was one that I saw back in the early 60's and it left a lasting impression on me. It has everything - a biography (being the story of GYPSY ROSE LEE and her career) with great acting by ROSALIND RUSSELL also and many others. Natalie Wood was so great in this aging from a KID to a world famous STRIPPER back in the days when this was a very risque thing to do!

I bought this for the memories to enjoy as I watch it - remembering back to when I was a young girl and thought it was so COOL! ALSO to add to my DVD LIBRARY of favorite classic movies.

The seller was VERY nice and quick to ship so it was all a great experience.

Anyone who hasn't seen this, regardless of age, would enjoy it - it's a great musical also that was a huge hit on BROADWAY back in the 1950's. It is ALSO inspirational with many things that would showcase this - being a SINGLE MOTHER in the 1920's - 1930's, that would be ROSALINE; and being made fun of and told NO TALENT - THAT would be NATALIE! Her sister went on to become a movie star too!

I love this movie and have for many years. I decided to try and buy it when I realized that the movie channels probably wouldn't be showing it many more times. My daughter and I watched it and the quality is excellent.I look forward to many more years of enjoyment and sharing this with others in my family.

Great Video of a classic musical. I am actually going to be in the show so I wanted to see the original movie. Loved it.

Got this movie for my mother. She has wanted it for long time. Loves Natalie Wood in the role of gypsy, and rosalind russell as the mother. Very enjoyable movie and the music.

I guess I was kind of dissapointed that I did not receive the DVD. The seller was terrific about letting me know along the way what the status was. But eventually I was refunded my payment. I will try to look elsewhere for the same DVD. BTW: I do not blame the seller. This person seemed very nice and sincere.

It is updated for widescreen HD DVD Players and they have the best and newsest items sealed from the factory ,congrats!

I wouldn't know if I loved or hated this movie, because I received an email from Ebay stating they had pulled all of the sellers items off of Ebay for an undisclosed reason and left me with the mess. (It was an official email...) They left me to have to deal with Paypal to try to get my payment back. After bunches of emails back and forth between me and Ebay and me and Paypal. There is so much restape & hoops to jump through to even get a simple question answered! Paypal has no choices on their limited shopping list of choices for email subjects. None of them cover "Ebay ended and pulled the auction I won and paid for and I want my money back!"

I can only assume that Ebay and Paypal make it so confusing so that you will finally just give up & that is what I finally did.

I know this is not a review of the movie I bought in the auction I won, but if Ebay pulls auctions that have already paid for then they should make restitution for fees already paid. The unsuspecting winning customers should not be left to have to spend their time being tied up sending emails or trying to call on the phone to straighten things out!

So, that is the review of the movie I never received, since Ebay pulled my winning auction....

Thought this movie was great as a kid. Still like it, especially Natalie Wood. Bought it after watching her bio on PBS.

This is my all time favorite version of Gypsy. Rosalind Russel keeps this storyline upbeat and marching forward. She, though now deceased, will always be MAME to me.

Great movie & entertaining. Great actors. No violence and gun shooting.
great for the kids also. To bad they do not make movies like this any more. All should watchif they just what something relaxing

Wonderful musical. I saw it as a child and have kept seeing it. Like West Side Story, its a classic you never get enough of. Ear Pleasing music, beautiful stage sets, great acting!

Very good movie, love musical movies of all kinds. Would like to know all the musical movies that there are.

This movie to my wife and I is considered a classic! It has great actors and actresses! Rosalind Russell, Natalie Wood and Karl Malden are great. It portrays Gypsy Rose Lee in a very true and positive setting as she went through Vaudeville and became famous as a sophisticated stripper. It has good musicals as well acting. Positively recommended!
Sorry, I have not seen the newer version so I cannot compare the two together.
