"The Gym Teacher" may just be the best film ever made. From the intricate romantic subplot to the climactic final scene, I was absolutely glued to the screen. Prepare to be dazzled with highest caliber acting, the cleverest of dialogue, deepest symbolism and brilliant plot development that will leave you breathless. This movie has a deep message with roots in one of the most renowned professions in modern America: Physical Education. As a former gym student, I recognize that the film captured the reality of gym class and reminded me of simpler times when I would count the days until I could arrive in gym and see my amazing teachers of the craft. If you thought Christopher Meloni was good in television programs such as "Law and Order: SVU" and "Oz", you have yet to witness the dynamic character he portrays that, in my opinion, has now set the standard for all others in the genre. Watch this film with your children, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, pets, friends, colleagues, peers, sports team, pets, self, book club, troupe and law firm but most importantly your gym teachers. Invite them to your home and offer them dinner and this movie; they deserve the appreciation. I recommended this work of comedic art to anyone that can grasp deep conceptual masterpieces yet possess an appreciation for simplicity in the medium of film. A film of a struggling young boy pulled out of the depths of despair by a loving and talented gym teacher.
