Because of the actors's integrity, old movies have a meaning to them that modern movies know nothing about, and the actors are way above any actor/actress we find today in Hollywood, where, to their shame, every other word is a cuss word! America used to be decent, and that is what is reflected in the Guns of Navarone. Great movie, great action, great meaning.

This is a terrific WWII film that's loaded with action and drama, not to mention great acting. No big battlefields in this war movie, as it takes a smaller approach by focussing the story on a ficticious "dirty dozen" type of group of soldiers who are assigned the task of sabatage in the middle of a Nazi stronghold. Very original plot, storyline, great acting. This film is a classic and I strongly recommend it.
