The Gun Digest Book Of The AR-15 by Patrick Sweeney (2005, Paperback)

A great reference book on the AR 15. I was especially pleased with the research Sweeny offered into the history, political and real world about the weapon system.
Detailed information about the topics I wanted to learn about. The only way I would have improved the book is with a few more detailed technical photos and a few less photos of different people firing the gun that was on little interest to me.
Overall, an excellent book and a great job by the author. Sweeny has proven to me that he is a leading authority on the firearm and offers a vast amount of practical knowledge condensed into and easy to read and enjoyable format without a lot of heavy opinionated fluff that I have seen from other authors. A great buy.

This and the Volume 2 book provide enough information for anyone to determine what they want in an AR type rifle, what to look for and where to look. The information gathered in these two volumes will save you MUCH more than the price of the books.

The book is very informative and gives you lots of information on this particular gun. My husband enjoys it very much and we would recommend it to anyone who wants to get proper information on guns.

This is an excellent basic introduction to the AR-15. The information seems to be reliable, if a bit dated (as of 2008). It is very well worth the cost. Vol 2 is also useful, as different topics are covered.

Lots of really good info. Plenty details. Needs color pictures and newer military pictures showing the gear.
