Guitar Hero (game only) (PlayStation 2)

With Guitar Hero 2 on the market as well, it was interesting to go backward and play the game that started it all. First, the gripes: there are only 30 songs (instead of the 40 featured on GH2), not as many bonus features and the hammer-ons/pull-offs are much more difficult to, well, pull off. Also, everything in the game is organized by difficulty level, which means that your gear won't carry over from easy to medium, medium to hard, etc. In beginning a new level of difficulty, you have to start all over again. However, the song selection overall is better; not once did I find myself wondering why the hell a particular track was featured instead of something else. There is a face-off mode, too, though it isn't nearly as fun as the co-op mode in GH2. Still, I find myself returning to GH1 again and again, if only for "Crossroads" and "Spanish Castle Magic."

Guitar Hero was always my second favorite simulation game. My first favorite is DDR since I started with it first. But, it doesn't mean I don't like to pull out the GH Guitar and jam to a couple songs. The 1st Guitar hero I thought was pretty well done. The reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because there aren't many songs and the hammer-on & pull-off aren't as good as in 2 and Legends of rock as well as Rock the 80's. The characters are well designed and the songs are always fun to play over and over again. Overall it was a great game, considering it was the first one.

I didn't get in on the Guitar Hero thing until the 3rd, so it was awesome to buy just the games to make my collection complete. Love the music, love trying to play it.

I like the songs the gameplay and the graphics. What I don't like is that it came without a guitar. But if you have one this is a must buy for Guitar Hero fans.

I say this product is good and not excellent because it is not as good as Guitar Hero 3. The graphics aren't as good and the points for playing are not up there with the 3rd game. But I really think for this being the first one out there, it is really good.

I bought this game for my son because it has the song Iron Man on from Ozzy Ozbourne. It is a fun game and I do like that the songs are all different on each game.

I like all guitar hero games so when i had my hands on all of them exepth for the first i just had to buy it. And its a good thing i did.

This particular game was in excellent shape, good price and now I have completed the collection. My family and myself really enjoyed playing with this new game.
We could not find this game in any store, ( kind of old ). I am very happy because we found it at E-bay.

first of all I love playing guitar hero games, I ordered this game because my Grandson and I have a blast playing together. Unfortunately I have never received the game because it was sold twice; once to me who paid for it and it was sent to another buyer who did not pay for it, I am working the problem out with the seller, but if something is not resolved soon, I will be filing a complaint

I have been looking for this game for some time. Games is as good as advertized. I will have hundreds of hours of fun. Game was received in mint condition.

I love the game, the songs in it really rock. It took a little while before I received the product, however once I did I havent been able to put it down. The game works beautifully, there are no scratches or marks of any sort on the actually cd and although the cover was a little damaged it made no impact on how the game works.

I'm not a console game player, I have been addicted to the Sims on my Mac before, but I'm terrible at anything that involves hand eye coordination.

At first, with Guitar Hero, I would think "push red, push green, push yellow, green, yellow.....

But then, still on easy mode, in some songs there are parts that go a little faster, fast enough for me to not have time to think before pushing the right button, and somehow my fingers just did it, with out my thoughts.

There must be some thing that gets released in the brain when that happens, a happy endorphin or whatever, because it is sooooo! fun, and terribly addictive!

I played for about 2 hours with friends taking turns, that is the only time I have played, and on easy mode I had two games that I got 81% of the buttons correctly, this is without playing on practice mode first, this game is not too hard.

If you are an adult who wants to keep your brain function longer, I think this will help, obviously I have no empirical studies to back this up, it's just a hunch, that playing this game probably has symilar benefits to crossword puzzles etc.

My daughter has Guitar Hero II and III and wanted the original. I looked for weeks to find the original at a price I would pay. I found this one at a great price and it was shipped very quickly. I received it only 4 days after payment - in time for her a Valentine's present. Great EBay seller.
