Guitar Hero & Guitar Hero II Dual Pack (PlayStation 2, 2007)

Oh, boy...!

eBay wants ME to write a review about a "Guitar Hero & Guitar Hero II Dual Pack (Playstation 2)" I recently bought.

Here goes... pay close attention to a "Redneck Guy From Kansas."

I purchased the 2-CD set for my son from seller "deal2002." We already had Guitar Hero III in a packaged set with a guitar purchased from Wal-Mart. We liked it so much, I had to get the 2 previous versions.

The Buy-It-Now price "deal2002" had for the 2-CD set wasn't any more than Wal-Mart's everyday low price for JUST ONE GUITAR HERO CD! The shipping wasn't bad also. Even better, I didn't have to pay any sales tax on the set. Even better-better... I didn't have to get up from my comfortable chair to make my purchase.

"deal2002" didn't mess around with shipping them out, and we had the set in about 3 days. The listing said they were supposed to be "used," but when I examined the disks, they were spotless. No scratches, nothing. Virgin surfaces and condition. I'd say we were the first to use them.

As for the games, we've had loads of fun playing the Guitar Hero series. I'm 53 years old, and it's really cool watching my kids play songs I listened to when I was young - and enjoying them! Alice Cooper, Cream, Rolling Stones, Kiss, ZZ Top.

It reminds me of Jack Black's movie, "School of Rock." My kids never heard of these songs until we bought Guitar Hero. Timeless classic rock with no foul language in them. It's great family fun! My son's favorite songs at the moment are "School's Out," by Alice Cooper, "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain, and "Iron Man," by Black Sabbath.

Guitar Hero III has a more refined menu than the previous versions, but that's understandable. If we bought the I and II versions first, we would have appreciated the improvements in III more.

The games are a good analogy of what it takes to become a rock legend. You have to "pay yer dues," to get there. Work your way up the ladder, play better, composed better songs, get bigger venues to play at while working for less than minimum wages at times.

My oldest daughter wanted to become a "famous singer" a few years ago, and asked me how she could become one. I don't know the music business, but I simply replied, "Get a band, start writing songs, and play every smoky bar and nightclub in the USA until someone in the music business thinks you're good enough to make music that people will buy."

In conclusion, all the Guitar Hero games are toe-tapping FUN! You get a game that's challenging (try expert level, I DARE you), will keep your attention at all times, and some great music to listen to. You can even plug in 2 guitars at once, and double your fun.

At the time of this writing, I see seller "deal2002" is still selling the Guitar Hero 1 & II double pack sets. If you recently bought the Guitar Hero III game and guitar set like we did for the first time, do yourself a favor, and get the I & II dual pack from "deal2002," and TRIPLE YOUR FUN!

Compared to the latest version of Guitar Hero (GH3) these first two versions are good, but not really that great. Just play the latest version of the Guitar Hero (GH3) and you'll see my point.

First impression of the game was thinking how far the game programmers had become, really, the gameplay in GH3 is worlds better than the first two. At times the button combos are following the beat instead of the actual guitar rhythm, and are scattered randomly in sequence. Gameplay does get better with the flow of a real guitar rythm in GH2, and again in GH3.

The music selection in GH3 is much more diverse and recognizable. I'm over 30, with I'd like to think a worldy appreciation of music, -the majority of song titles in GH1 and GH2 I knew, or at least have had heard before. Maybe the music selections were hand picked by the game developers, not the public. I guess the majority of GH players are in their late 30's, -because many won't recognize the music. There isn't a single bonus track worth unlocking on GH1 I'm sorry to say.

Don't get me wrong, I love some of the tracks like 'Fatlip' and 'Stellar' unfortunately they are too few in between as the player is forced to play some forgettable tracks.- Don't even get me started on the GH (rock the 80's).

In the end, GH1,2 are ok games to play, but unless your a hard core GH player and fan, save your money for others like Rock Band, GH3 or the next GH release.

all of us are enjoying this game, takes us as parents back in time and helps alot with music, ie. fingering, timing, etc.... only wish is that they would have other music such as gospel, blues, christian rock artists, but maybe thats already in the future plans...thanks.

The second is better then the first but Guitar Hero is SO much fun to play. The whole family gathers around to play

I like the fact that both guitar hero and guitar hero 2 comes together. It has really good songs on both!!!

I love this game , because when my kids will play it. It has not blood,death,sex,or guns. The game is about being a guiar player. You learn the basics of playing the guitar and have fun doing it. You get to hear great songs and be apart of them when you are good enough. It is a valuable tool to help kids know they have to work to meet thir goals.

I won this auction and never received it, and got some excuse that they had more auction then they did Items and I had to contact them to let them know I did not receive it. Neeedless to say I can not rate this item because I NEVER RECEIVED IT!!!

Seriously, the seller was upfront and truthful. The price was fair for a used game (I think). The only downside was working with paypal and myself, being Canadian, had my wallet stripped down more than expected by them. Yes I do know there's an exchange rate difference, and I follow it regularly, but what they charged me, imho, was absolutely ridiculous.

This was a great deal to get the dual pack and it was in pristine condition. Guitar Hero II, to me, is the best of all the Guitar Hero games ... I especially like the Iggy Pop and Pretenders songs. I had never heard them before and love them!

I bought this for my teenage sisters for xmas and not only do they play it all day long but they got my parents to play too. This game has brought a lot of laughs and family bonding time!

I bought this for my two grand sons who are ten and eleven years old, for Christmas. They are into games and music, and have played it with there friends already. This is a surprise for them and they do not know if they will get it or not for Christmas. They should be the ones writing this review since they are into these games and I am not. They requested it as something of importance for a Christmas gift.

Each Guitar Hero seems to get better with each release! This is a good one, I think it is much better than the Encore release, but not as good as GH III or World Tour, but a nice addition to the collection from RedOctane!

This is a great buy being that it has 2 discs of guitar hero 1 and 2. The music is great and worth buying this duo deal. Rock on!

Good idea to have the two games in the same box!! Plus it's cheaper but the guitar hero I got skips on certain songs..

This game has great songs. Our family has a blast playing together for hours. Worth the price two games for the price of one.

These games are incredibly fun. When I've got nothing to do, I play for hours and hours without stopping. The graphics are great, the sound is great, the music is great, the price is great, the Activision/RedOctane wireless controller is great, the controller's price is great, everything is great.

The only thing I don't like is that in Guitar Hero I, the hammer-ons are so difficult that I have to strum them. But all in all, to excellent games.

It is great to be able to have both games packed together in one. Not only saves space, but also money in buying the dual pack. It is a great series and even though I had newer versions first, it is good to see how it started.

We own Guitar Hero III and our kids were looking for more of a variety of music
so we decided to order I and II to add to the mix. They are very pleased and love having all 3, and so many songs to choose from! This was a fantastic deal as opposed to ordering them separately so A+ rating all the way!!!

If you love guitar hero then this set is for you!!! Great songs from many different eras. Pratice mode is great for the novice rock star in your house. Fun for all ages young or old!!!
