Somewhere between the piles of laundry, dirty dishes, car-pooling, dog walking and baby sitting, there's an untamed wild and crazy rocker chick just dying to break out! Guitar Hero feeds my inner animal!
I purchased this game hoping it would keep my kids occupied while I ran through Scolomance one more time with the grand illusion my Valor boots would actually drop (another game, World of Warcraft!) After setting the game up for them, I could'nt help watching out of the corner of my eye. "Hey, thats Judas Priest!" I jumped up and exclaimed. My night-elf warrior was left standing, bored and lonely. I was bitten by the Guitar Hero bug!
I'm 42 and have three kids, ages 10, 8 and 17. From a parent's perspective, I'm thrilled to find a game that brings the entire family together for hours at a time that doesn't involve guns, blood and hookers! I can handle fast cars, guns and blood...but the hookers have to go.
About Game Play: Using a controller shaped like a miniature guitar, you hold down fret buttons and strum as notes scroll across the screen, much like Dance Dance Revolution. Being a guitar player myself, I was skeptical that the controller would be sensitive enough to deliver life-like, simulated playing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the controller is highly sensitive and responded great on lead runs, hammer-ons and power chords. It even simulates pull-offs, how it does that without strings is mind-blowing! The "whammy" bar is great fun. There is a two player mode. You'll need to purchase a second controller.
Career Mode: After you choose and create a character you can name your band, mine's Slipsnot. Starting in the easy mode, you must advance through several songs and venues to advance to the next level of difficulty. Once at the medium level, you earn money for each song you successfully complete. Money can be spent at the Rock Shop. You may purchase items such as a new guitar, songs, new characters, and even behind the scenes videos on how Guitar Hero was developed. Don't expect ton's of cash however, the lawyers get a huge cut....as always!
Song Choices: These songs are hard core! Ace of Spades, Bark at the Moon, Cochise Cowboys, From Hell, Crossroads, Fat Lip, Frankenstein, Godzilla, Heart Full of Black, Hey You, Higher Ground, I Love Rock and Roll, I Wanna Be Sedated, Infected, Iron Man, Killer Queen, More Than A Feeling, No One Knows, Sharp Dressed Man, Smoke on the Water, Spanish Castle Magic, Stellar, Symphony of Destruction, Take It Off, Take Me Out, Texas Flood, Thunderkiss 65, Unsung, You Got Another Thing Comin, Ziggy Stardust.
Who knows when I'll return to Scholomance and attempt to get my Valor boots!
This is an awesome game............on a scale of 1-10....I turn it all the way up to 11! Rock On!
