Groundhog Day (DVD, 2002, Special Edition)

In this offbeat comedy from director Harold Ramis (Ghostbusters,
Ghostbusters 2, Analyze That, Knocked Up, Bedazzeled, etc) self-
centered television weatherman Phil Connors played by Bill Murray
( Stripes, Zombieland, City of Ember, Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc) is
sent to Punxsutawney, Pa., to cover the annual appearance of th
town's world - famous groundhog. After unleashing his bitterness
on his producer played by Andie Macdowell ( Multiplicity, Michael,
Hudson Hawk, St. Elmo's Fire, etc) and cameraman (Chris Elliott)
Connors starts to repeat Groundhog Day until he learns that his
actions can affect the outcome of the day. The movie turns into
a real laugh as Connors drives off a cliff with the groundhog,
does really strange or stupid things - figuring there will be
no harm--until he realizes that only he can keep the day from
happening over and over. Veteran director Harold Ramis works this
movie to perfection and has always done his best work with comedies,
he again does his work to the highest degree and works a masterpiece
with this flix. Most people will enjoy this movie-especially if you
like comedy. This is Murray at his very best. A great movie for
a good night of entertainment.

I saw the movie several times but not from the start. It is really different in that he relives Ground Hog Day several times. You need to watch the movie from the beginning to understand it. The movie is funny and totaly different than other mivies. I really like it.

My husband is 42 and had this movie on our DVR for over 2 years. Every time I looked to see what he had recorded and saved, GROUNDHOG DAY was there! I thought it much better for my husband to be able to watch this wherever and whenever he liked.
Our son is 7 and loves this movie just as much (aside from covering his eyes on a scene or two).
Very funny....my husband does not like romances, but he loves this movie-odd!

Great classic movie ... the guy ( Bill Murray starts out being a real ass and little by little turns out to be a great human being .... best movie Bill Murray will ever make , it's hard to equal perfection and ,this is one of those movies !!
These movie should have been called .... The making of a great human !!

You will watch it again and again and again. It won't just feel that way as Bill Murray repeats the same dreary day over and over again. You'll love this movie so much, you will watch it again and again.

Filled with a great message about what's really important in life.

Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, a weather reporter, who is infatuated with Rita, played by Andie MacDowell. Murray is funny as usual, and states Somebody asked me today, "Phil, if you could be anywhere in the world, where would you like to be?" And I said to him, "Prob'ly right here - Elko, Nevada, our nation's high at 79 today." Out in California, they're gonna have some warm weather tomorrow, gang wars, and some *very* overpriced real estate. Up in the Pacific Northwest, as you can see, they're gonna have some very, very tall trees. This is his usual tongue-in-cheek type of zany comedy, but this film is also about how the boy gets the girl. Groundhog day is played over and over like a broken record, (every morning he is woke to Sony and Cher's-I got you Babe song) until he finally gets it right, and gets Andie to fall in love with him. 5 Stars *****

Groundhog Day - I think this is one of Bill Murrey's better comedies after Caddyshack and Stripes of coarse. This movie gets overlooked, it really is a good movie. Check it out again.

Just like poor Phil, you'll want to revisit this movie over and over again. Great story about one man's journey of self-discovery. This has to be the best acting performance by Bill Murray in his career. He has always been a funny guy, but he shows here that he can be quite serious even while making you laugh a little. Great movie, one to buy and enjoy over and over again.

we recieved the DVD of Groundhog Day very quickly, Haven't played it yet since it was bought as a christmas gift.

Wife asked for it for CHRISTmas.. Hsn't watched it yet. She'll probably wait 'til then... personally have seen the movie several times and enjoyed it every time I've watched it. Bill Murray does an excellent job in this movie of changeing each dayas he continues to go bag to the same day in time...

very fast delivery. i bought it thursday and came in the mail monday. cant complain about that. the dvd was in great condition.

I have watched this movie several times on a VCR tape, till it began to wear out, and main thrust of the story seems to me to be that one can make of this life what you will. Dwell in the negative and you'll bring that to you, focus on the positive and more of that comes into your life. It is uplifting to have that reminder every once in a while and be entertained by the comedy of this existence as well.

Groundhog Day is very funny movie and very good performances from Bill Murray
and Andie Mac Dowell. This movie can be watched by the family.

In a special 3 hour C-Span interview, Charles Murray was questioned about his book, Human Accomplishment: The Pursuit of Excellence in the Arts and Sciences, 800 B.C. to 1950. The interviewer asked him what he thought would be THE remembered movie of our times, 200 years in the future. He indicated that while most people see Groundhog day as being funny and worth re-viewing, most do not get the profound, moral message of the film. He recommended we all rewatch it, have our laughs, but think about the message as well.

I thought I wouldn't care as much for this movie watching it the first time after being disappointed by Lost in Translation. THAT little bomb made me leary or Bill Murray's comedy style. But Groundhog Day is HILARIOUS!!!! Great performances by Andie MacDowell and Bill Murray. Te situation is totally whimsical but yet, with our rumors of the infamous Bermuda Triangle, it may cause some of us to wonder... This movie is recommended for almost everyone, albeit with a bit of discretion from parents simply for some light profanity, if I remember correctly. Otherwise, it is a great film. It's one movie a guy WON'T be mad about having to watch on a date. There is a light romantic element but mostly this film is just palin funny. Happy Viewing!

Bill Murray is fantastic in this do over movie. What would you do if every morning you woke up and it was Feb. 2nd at 6am? Consequences are meaningless! This movie is one of Bill's funniest and that is saying a lot because he is one funny man! Enjoy!

I love this movie. Every time it is on the television I try to see it. Now I can see it any time. I don't know why it took me this long to get the DVD.
