Grey Gardens (DVD, 2006, 2-Disc Set Edition)

Absolutely, one of the best documentary films you will ever watch. Not for the weak of heart so those with that need stay away. The two Edith Beales tell it like it is in life. The meager existence that they have and the style that they still keep. You must watch this before the seeing the play or movie. I have taken many film classes in college for my elective courses and never see anything more raw or honest on life. We all have family secrets that we do not want to share especially a mother and daughter relationship that has had ups and downs. I share too this with the Beales and maybe this is why I like the documentary. I must wear red shoes next time when watching. The PBS show on GG is also excellent and recommended after this viewing. Not for children to view. Sorry one reviewer thought it was in poor taste. It merely gives the audience the opportunity to see that these 2 women chose their lifestyle and would not be bullied by society or the law. I say good for them! They do have a functional relationship if you really look into the movie each accepts and love one another and displays their honest disdain when angry. Raw and gritty I love it!!!Let's see does anyone have a revolutionary outfit to sell???? Just buy it!!!!

Loved the DVD of this classic documentary made in 1975. Outstanding. Glad I was able to get it on Ebay.

One night while surfing the channels, I came across this documentary, Grey Gardens. It was sad, funny, interesting and I just had to watch it as often as it would again be on. I decided I had to own it. Let's face it there is a little Edie in all of us. Edie and her mother Big Edie showed the inctricate dynamics in a extremely dysfunctional family. If this wasn't interesting enough, the fact that they were the Aunt and Cousin of our beloved Jackie Bouvie Kennedy just added to the quirkiness and eccentricities of these two amazing women and the characters that were a part of their lives. Since purchasing it I have shared it with several of my friends. I'm so happy I have them in my life.

Both DVD's were offered together at a good price. The original doc and the 2nd disc are compulsively watchable. Very happy with this purchase.

Oh, what a wonderful box set! You absolutely have to buy this....the Beales are two, truly wonderful women....ah, to be so eccentric and enjoy life...

I read about the Beales and wanted to learn more about them. I looked on Ebay and found the DVDs for sale. They arrived soon after ordering, and in excellent condition. The Beales were fascinating people.

i love this movie but unfortunately, i never got it. i paid the seller for this movie plus two others, but they never sent them. weeks later i get a notice from ebay saying that i got a no payment strike on my account. i filed a claim with paypal and they ruled in my favor so i got my money back. which is the only good thing that happened with this transaction.

I watched the HBO version which was very good, but it left me wanting to actually see how Mother and Daughter made it through all those years in actual "real" footage" and this version does that. If you're a buyer all the descriptions of the DVD list all from the HBO MOvie, this is not that movie.

I watched Grey Gardens on television a few months back and caught it right in the middle of it. I decided after watching the HBO movie to purchase the actual documentary and got the 2 Disc set which is Excellent. It has an entire 2nd DVD with alot of footage not covered in the documentary. You basically fall in love with the Beale's. You also feel sad for them. It's a great Documentary and I would recommend this to anyone interested in the Beale's.
