MAY THE BEALES ALWAYS REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS

All I can say is, if you don't fall in love with Big and Little Edie after watching this movie, then you're not human! Even after watching it for the first time, I was hooked. It is a mesmerizing experience that is difficult to describe, as I'm sure other fans will attest to. After watching it, you will cry to think that these two wonderful ladies are no longer with us. At least we have Grey Gardens to remember them! I think we all long to possess the fierce independence these two ladies were graced with. Although I have always admired Jackie Onassis Kennedy, she does not stay in your heart the way Big and Little Edie do. What a rare treat to have known these delightful characters; I only wish I had!

Liked the whole reality of it. Wish they had shown more of the house. The begining of reality TV but in a good way.

The title says it all--Grey Gardens-a little dreary.

I decided to buy Grey Gardens after I read about it in a magazsine and it perked my curiousity and I purchased it. I found the movie very interesting a bit bittersweet and I could sense the feeling of decay and depression linking both the women (mother and daughter)together. I found because it was a true story it made it even more fascinating. Time does not wait for anyone and these two seem to be stuck in a time warp. Money buys many things but it does not buy back your youth or your past times. I could not find anything to dislike about the movie --other than; I wish they had updated the end and let the public know how each of them turned out, otherwise it was an excellent documentary.

I'm a Grey Garden fan, the product was excellent. I bought the product because I already had The Beales of Grey Gardens and several books about Grey Gardens so, I wanted the DVD also.

I originally saw Grey Gardens on VHS back when it was first released and before the Broadway play and HBO movie. Enjoyed it then and enjoy it now especially after seeing the HBO movie.

HBO did a FANTASTIC job on making of this documentary
Review created: 05/11/09

HBO did a fantastic job on the making of this documentary. They did such a great job it made me want to purchase the original documentary of Grey Gardens, which was superb! Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore WERE Edie Bouvier Beales and Edie Eeals jr. I highly recommend purchasing Grey Gardens. It delves into the lives of 2 women who were the Aunt and 1st cousin of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis and they were either a little " off " or just very eccentric. Either or, they were very interesting people and in a way this documentary is like a love story, between a mother and daughter spanning 40+ years, living alone, with each other and rarely any company at all from relatives or friends. They were kind of reclusive but they had each other

Unique - mesmerizing - like watching a train wreck.

I had seen this documentary on TV years ago. After seeing the Broadway Show based on it I decided I wanted to see the original again. It is amazing how perfectly Christine Ebersole captured "Little" Edie in the show. Every time I watch this DVD (yes, I keep replaying it) I'm amazed at how hypnotizing it is and how much more I get from it at each viewing. If you've never heard of it do some research. If you know of it then you really should get a copy.

A peek into Social Registar Welfare
Review created: 04/02/08(updated 04/02/08)

I have watched this so many times and each time I see something new. As poor as these ladies are they still have the ellusion of wealth. They are bittersweet in their relationship. Little Edie is a beautiful woman and her mother was also in her younger days. The loss of Little Edie's hair forced to use whatever she had available to maintain a stylish demeanor. Very clever. She could and I think started a fashion trend. If you are interested in the human side of life, I urge you to buy this. Little Edie is dead now but the house was sold to a couple who restored it to it's former beauty. The stipulation of the sale was that they could tear down any of the structure and only improve with dignity in mind. Rumor is that when it rains the cats urine is still in the air. Ugh
