Greg Hasting's Max'd (Good, but not quite there yet)

Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball Max'd (Xbox) is an addictive first person shooter type game. It varies from other run-of-the-line games in its genre because it incorporates sport, instead of missions fighting terrorists/crime etc. Its style is fresh and entertaining...definately a good alternative to other sports games like NHL 2006 or FIFA.
Its gameplay is entertaining and captivating, but somewhat lacking. It is not the most realistic in its recreation of the sport itself, but is fun nonetheless. It has an awesome soundtrack that never seems to get old, but the side comments and remarks made by the announcer sure do.
It also incorporates the tournament style play that allows the user to earn cash, which can be used to buy gear, including markers, pants, and other necessities. However, there is an utter lack of good equipment, especially high quality paintball guns. It is clear to see who sponsored the game the most (Tippman). Tippman has like 5 markers available to buy, although they only offer a few different variations in real life. Well known brand names are noticibly absent from their small selection.
Though the game does have its weaknesses, but it is entertaining and worth purchasing for a mid-range price ($15-$35). It has made improvments over its predecessor, and I am certain that the next version will be one step closer to a perfect recreation of this glorious sport.
