Album Notes Arguably the funniest band in rock history and certainly the hammiest (dig that eye patch), Dr. Hook, after famously lamenting their lack of fame in "On the Cover of the Rolling Stone," actually did run up an impressive string of Top 40 hits in the latter part of the '70s--as well as finally nabbing that coveted magazine cover story. GREATEST HOOKS is a misleading compilation: it's not a definitive career-spanning collection of the band's greatest songs--in fact, it barely touches upon the early 1970s, when most of their material was written by Shel Silverstein. While songs like "Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother"--among the few early gems included here--represent their most enduring era, critically speaking, Dr. Hook in the late '70s was an impressive blue-eyed soul band that knew how to send an easy-listening groove up the charts. GREATEST HOOKS concerns itself mostly with this period, and with tracks such as "Sharing the Night Together," "Better Love Next Time," "Sexy Eyes," and "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman," the collection has everything the casual fan needs and more. | Find errors in the product description?
