Greatest Hits by Linda Ronstadt (CD, Jul-1987, Elektra Entertainment)

A great collection of her first hits from her first few albums. This is just Volume 1 of her greatest hits, since there have been others since this CD came out. She's a bit rock, country, pop, and somewhat balladeer. This album includes her hit with The Stone Poneys, before she became a solo artist, called "A Different Drum". Her cover rendition of "Desperado", originally done by the Eagles is superb, as is her cover of Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears". These two songs may evoke a tear or two. "When Will I Be Loved" is here along with other songs that you may or may not know. All the songs are great and shows that Ronstadt has the ability to sing whatever comes in front of her with conviction. Her songs, whether they were written for her or the covers, she sings them excellently.. on the covers of "Desperado" and "Tracks", she sings them so well that one may not think that they were covers. If you like classic Ronstadt music, this is the album for you.

I bought this as a reference CD for certain drum sounds recorded in the 70's. Little did I know it would bring about a huge resurgence of listening to many memorable Linda Ronstadt hits, all of which I found the lyrics and melodies seared into memory. From the upbeat "Heat Wave" to "You're No Good" to the emotional "Tracks of My Tears" the songwriting and production elements are top shelf. Great dynamics and of course, that soaring Linda voice! A must have for any Ronstadt fan, or anyone interested in musical production values from the 70's. If you haven't already; check out "Hasten Down the Wind" another excellent Ronstadt release from this era.

When I was a young adult, I used to play Linda Ronstadt's songs on cassette over and over and over. It just recently occurred to me to look for the songs on a CD.

Being out of work, money is very tight and I was very happy to find the CD with all of my favorite songs at such a reasonable price and shipping rate.

Now I am brought back to the 70's and I'm singing to the same songs over and over and over!

I really like this CD. I enjoy listening to the Oldies. I try to find CD's that have more than just one or two good songs on them. Greatest hits are usually the best buy.

I loved Linda Ronstadt's music way back when she was popular, and realize I just like it now. Why? We have so many talented musicians now who eclipse her. Still, the deja vu made it worth a listen. Buy only if you knew her when you were in your teens or twenties or have your heart set on being a torch singer.

This has always been one of my favorite albums, have it on CD, cassette, LP, and of course my cell phone. You will not go wrong with it. Personally, my favorites are "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" and "Tracks of My Tears."

BRINGS BACK MEMORIES! GREAT MUSIC! I LISTENED TO ALL OF LINDA`S SONGS AS I GREW UP! SHE HAD HIT AFTER HIT AND SHE WAS AND STILL IS A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN! THE BEST SONG TO ME IS THE SONG "LONG LONG TIME" WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT IT WAS A GREAT SONG BUT AS TIME GOES BY THROUGH ALL OF YOUR RELATIONSHIPS -YOU CAN RELATE TO THE WORDS IN THIS SONG! ITS SO SAD! ALL THE OTHER SONGS ARE PRETTY GREAT TOO. I RECOMMEND THIS CD TO EVERYBODY!

It's difficult to beat the early Linda Ronstadt, and the second CD with the melodous Aaron Nevelle outstanding

Shipped on time, wrapped in original pkg, great CD would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Linda Ronstadt. She has always been one of mine, great singer.

This is an excellent example of Ronstadt's earlier works. Her beautiful crystal clear voice, and wide range of styles. Certainly worth the listen, again and again.
