Fun to listen to

Biggie Smalls was no Tupac. Tupac could write great-sounding stuff about a variety of topics and themes. In addition to following in rap's tradition of demeaning women and romanticizing cop-killing ("Trapped"), killing n****s ("Hit 'em up"), and using drugs, Tupac wrote a lot of prosocial stuff (e.g. about people needing to eat better, live better, basically up their standards, take care of one another, etc.) He drew attention to social problems like teen-pregnancy and prostitution ("Brenda's got a baby") and he encouraged people to treat women with more respect ("Keep ya head up").
Biggie unfortunately did not write any pro-social stuff. The message is this: I sold drugs. I like to f*** b*****s. I have to problem killing n****s. But, hey, it's great music. It's fun to listen to. It's got great grooves. Biggie's voice quality is unique, and it sounds very good.
My favorites: "Juicy", "Big Poppa", "Dead Wrong", "Ten Crack Commandments", and "N****s".
The one complaint I have about a lot of these songs is that sometimes they looped the groove for a looooooooong time without any words over it... and it got boring to listen to. It's almost like when you're writing a paper for school, and it has to be 3 pages long, and you're struggling to get 3 pages, so you write a lot of b.s. to get it to the proper length. It sounded like they were struggling to get a 3-and-a-half or 4-minute-long song, so they filled it up by looping the groove over and over and over again.
An example of this is the song "Hypnotize", which ends with 51 seconds of this, looped over and over and over: "Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, can't you see? Sometimes your words just hypnotize me. And I just love your flashy ways, I guess that's why they're broke and you're so paid." Annoying.
A better example is "Notorious B.I.G."... the loop "No, No, No, Notorious" over and over and over again is obnoxious, especially when they do it for 40 seconds at the end of the song.
But besides that, the album is great!
