Album Notes The Fixx: Jamie West-Oram (vocals, guitar); Cy Curnin (vocals); Rupert Greenall (keyboards); Dan K. Brown, Alfie Agius (bass); Adam Woods (drums, percussion). Recorded between 1982 & 1986. When The Fixx left MCA Records at the end of the '80s, a greatest hits repackage was called for. Named, rather unimaginatively, after the group's biggest hit--which rivals Haircut 100's "Love Plus One" for ubiquity on those "HITS OF THE '80s" compilations--ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER may well be all the Fixx anyone but a devoted fan of pop-oriented, keyboard-driven art-rock needs. Covering their five MCA albums, including a live "Stand or Fall" from 1986's concert set REACT and extended remixes of "Deeper and Deeper" and "Built for the Future," these 12 songs are long on tense atmospherics, though rather short on comprehensibility. What on earth does "Saved By Zero" mean and does it matter, considering that the nagging guitar riff and ghostly keyboards are the song's main attractions? Though it would be nice if early singles "Cameras in Paris" and "Some People" were included, ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER is a fine set.
