Album Notes
The Jackson 5: Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Marlon Jackson.
Busting out of Gary, Indiana in 1968, The Jackson Five became a phenomenally successful crossover group for Motown Records. GREAT SONGS THAT INSPIRED THE MOTOWN 25TH ANNIVERSARY T.V. SPECIAL includes the four consecutive Number One records "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There," which guaranteed the group a place in musical history.
With matching psychedelic outfits, a compelling blend of commercial soul and funk, and Michael's heartfelt homage to Jackie Wilson's stylings, they became top sellers throughout the early '70s. The nascent stirrings of Michael's solo career are represented here by "Got to Be There" and "Ben." Also noteworthy is 1974's "Dancing Machine," a precursor to the boys' more blatant disco excursions. All 10 songs included here tied in with the 1983 Motown television special.
