The Great International Paper Airplane Book by Jerry Mander (1967, Paperback)

This is the first paper airplane book ever, written by the staff of Scientific American after their little contest got out of hand. I have two of the planes from this book sitting here on my desk, still flyable after nearly twenty years - the two rings and a tube model. This book combines technical brilliance, sarcasm, humor, history ... it really is the best. A couple of the people who submitted planes knew the Wright brothers personally. I can't imagine anyone not being entertained by it, and you can make the planes too. Everyone should have a copy.

This is more a history of paper airplanes, not near as much as I expected a book on airplane designs that you could grab a piece of paper, follows directions or illustrations and make a bunch of cool planes. And keep in mind the date of this book, 1967 is a long time ago! Also. if you've seen this book and decide you do want it, be sure you don't buy it used, someone may rip out the pages they wanted then sell you the rest of the useless book, like was done to me.

I purchased this book for my 10yr. old son. He had to "build" an airplane for a graded school project. It had several great plane designs to choose from. There were numerous degrees of difficulty for the beginners to the expert "folders". We had a blast reviewing the entire book! I would recommend this book for young and old alike!
