A Bass Clarinet Feast For the Ears
Review created: 01/05/08

If you love Jazz and the lower register woodwinds, grab this CD right away. There are very few Jazz CDs featuring bass clarinet-the only other one I am aware of is David Murray's Ballads For Bass Clarinet, which is very hard to find. It's also rare for a Riverside release in that it was recorded in California-hence the name given to the Californians backing band. Other than that it is a pretty typical Riverside session. Mann plays primarily flute, so if you like him, this session is a nice change of pace.
