Movie Description
Charles Dickens immortal tale of pip, an orphan given the opportunity to break free from poverty to live life as educated gentlemen. All the drama, heartache and triumph of Dickens comes alive in this extravagant screen adaptation with stunning portrayals by world class actors. James Mason is magwitch, the escaped convict pip helps in an act which affects his entire life; Robert Morley his kindly uncle, Anthony Quayle is Jaggers, the Lawyer who intercedes for pip's anonymous benefactor; and the rich but deeply troubled Havisham is deftly portrayed by Margaret Leighton. Estella, the haughty but beautiful young girl with whom pip falls hopelessly in love is Sarah Miles; and the adult pip is played by Michael York. A richly rewarding film experience, it's story filled with adventure, romance and moments to touch the hearts of audiences everywhere.
