MY FATHER FLEW THE BOEING B17G FLYING FORTRESS OVER GERMANY. KIDS ALSO LOVE THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF THE HUGE COLOUR LITHOGRAPHS. I THINK RIKYU WATANABE IS THE BEST AIRCRAFT ILLISTRATOR. This book is an outstanding reference on 12 Airplanes. The title is a bit misleading ( The Great Book of World War II Airplanes ) as there were 100's of Airplanes used be both the Allied and Axis military forces during the war. KH.

I bought this book as a gift for my husband who is interested in certain aircraft from World War II. He had seen the book at a retail store and hinted he would love to have it. He particularly likes the cut-away diagrams of the planes. The quality of the drawings is excellent, with clear and precise details. Descriptions given are accurate and the narrative is informative. The only drawback he noted was that some of the drawings are split between pages. They sometimes do not match accurately from page to page. Overall, an excellent resource for those interested in World War II.
