The Grass Is Blue by Dolly Parton (CD, Oct-1999, Sugar Hill Records)

It was what I expected. Dolly is great, and I like Bluegrass. I put it in the rotation of CD's in my car, so Dolly will be with Elvis, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, the Oak Ridge Boys, a bunch of Motown and others. It definitely filled a gap.

Some of Dolly Parton's best work. She really writes great songs, too bad she won't dish out millions to be played on the radio.

Dolly returns to her Tennessee roots in this recording. Her album is entirely Bluegrass. I was breathless with admiration after listening to this CD by the inimitable Dolly Parton. What a gal and what a songwriter after all these years she still shines bright, and this CD is proof that there is no limit to what a truly talented singer can do. Her voice is so pure that it is absolutely perfect for this type of music. Her enthusiasm for what she does shows. You can hear that in her occasional "trademark" giggle of hers here and there in the music.
