This is a nice book on granny squares but it is a Vanessa Ann book and most of those books tend to be on the elegant side, definitely heirloom quality. It is not that I don't like those types of patterns, I love them. I just wanted to see something different and most of what is in this book is stuff that is not all that out of the ordinary. Very nice afghans. Some good ideas for the granny square.

I wasn't all that thrilled with this book. It had a couple ok afghans and some might look nicer with updated color schemes and photos. The only project in this book I might actually make is an Irish crochet bridal pillow. Other than that I was not impressed.

Crochet and sewing combined!
) I bought this book looking for granny square patterns/motifs for use for charity blankets. I didn't find what I was looking for in that respect, but it has a very nice variety of patterns for smaller crochet thread type items. If you are looking for a book that will give you patterns for comforters, doilies, bedspreads annd Christmas ornaments as well as afghans, this is the book for you.
