Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) Amazing game!

Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360. I'm practically new to the GTA series, but ever since I got my Xbox 360 and started playing this game, it was open jawed amazement throughout. Rockstar games has really captured a crime filled city, but they've also includes scenes in the game that are rather comedic in a sense. I was never able to play the GTA series when I was younger, due to my parents seeing GTA as a plague waiting to kill everyone. On a happier note, I can strongly recommend this to anyone around the age of Teen and up. If you're wavering back and forth if you should get this game or not. Just get it, or at least rent it. One thing about this game that is rather annoying is the graphics, awesome as they are, I think Rockstar was required to lower the texture detail and a lot other aspects of this game (graphics wise) for the consoles. I've compared PC vs Xbox 360, PC is CLEAR! Xbox 360 not so clear.
Don't let me fool you though, just because the graphics are rather fuzzy, this game shines bright above other game! When you include no loading time, with the ability to play darts and bowling not to mention pool. You've got one hell of a game!

RATING SYSTEM:

Story: 10/10 The story of GTA IV lasted me a good week, and still keeps drawing me back. Rockstar tried hard to make an awesome story, they sure earned there stars.

Gameplay: 10/10 Smooth as silk, the layout is very well placed and easy to remember in the heat of battle.

Graphics: 9/10 While the graphics are still really cool! The little bit of fuzziness gets to me.

Sound: 10/10 Full surround sound will make you wounder if your still playing a video game.

Re-play value: 10/10 You cannot stop playing this game after the story, I've just rode around on a bike for hours listing to the radio station! it's just amazing and highly addictive.

Total: 9.5/10

Rockstar will hopefully come out with GTA V, but this time with no fuzzy graphics.

This game takes a bit to figure out, but it's got all the same fun ideas as the other gta games: steal cars, kill hookers, out run the cops! My girlfriend even plays this one, haha! I would recommend renting it first, see if you like it, then get it for good. Have fun and enjoy!

Graphics 9.8
There still is a little warping of the body's but otherwise the car graphics are simply amazing. You don't see doubles of people every minute like earlier editions of Grand Theft Auto. People react to the body part you shoot and dont just act like they got hit in the head when they were hit in the arm. Graphics of the city are amazing. Flying in a helicopter at night and it looks like modern day New York City.

Storyline 9.4
The Stroyline is what makes this game so great. People talking to each other looks great beacause their mouths move to the word they say. Also tons of characters in the story. Can get a little lost here and there but not very often. So many missions in the game it's unbelievable. No two missions are exactly the same. Earlier version of GTA missions ment go here and kill this guy go here kill this guy there is not much of that same mission type in this game.

Gameplay/Controlls 9.8
The controlls in GTAIV are easy to learn nothing hard to figure out. I learned them all the first 5 minutes of playing. The only complaint that I have is driving is tricky at first due to the wide turning of most cars or trucks which usually ended up in hitting a pole or ending up in the side of a building.

Overall 9.8
This game is a must have for GTA lovers. Takes a few weeks to beat not a one day play game. Gets very addicting after a while. No Major Complaints about this game. If you don't have it buy it. Awesome game. Hope for GTAV very soon. Thanks for reading.

One of the best Xbox 360 games I've played that isn't primarily a 1st person shooter (Halo or CoD4). Sweet game and the story line is intense!

  Constant profanity=annoying, multiplayer=terrible lag
Review created: 07/12/08
by:
3 of 7 people found this review helpful.

-Multi-player options were lacking. There is so much put into this game and then they cripple it by limiting the options. For example, why are they always making me start on the edge of the map with no cars within a mile? Why must I walk around the map for five minutes before I even find a car? If I wanted to go for a walk, I wouldn't be playing video games.

-Lag lag lag (and I have 10mb/s cable internet). Multiplayer is virtually unplayable...

-Gave up playing on internet and played with friends on my LAN. Still ridiculous lag. The game is simply not optimized for multiplayer.

-There's a lot of profanity these days and I'm no prude. But the profanity is so extreme and frequent, I really don't know anyone who talks like that--and my friends are no angels. The dialogue is distracting. It's annoying that anytime I drive around a corner, some pedestrian is like, "what the f*** you sh*tface." Does swearing make the game edgy? No, just annoying.

for sad pathetic people that have no life, on GTA4 you can. you can drive a car. you can talk on a cell phone. you can hang out with your buddies and play darts- pool- strip club- even go to a bar and get drunk. get a girlfriend. surf the internet. BUT MY FAVORITE.. getting a rocket launcher and kill 20 innocent bystanders. SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND. allthough it is a good game. its kinda the same old GTA.. nothing new.. same old gta.. did i mention SAME OLD GTA.. complete missions. buy apartments. steal cars. they could have done better. such as SAVE where you are OPTION. new weapons? where are the new weapons. im thinkin hockey mask and machette. or even numbchucks. cumon.. i need variety here.. the cars are not that cool.. i wana see priuses. regular pedal bycicles, row boats, harrier jets, TANK.. what happend to the tank.. i loved the tank.. well guess what GTA4 no more tank. how about a monster truck.. LLEEWWW ZEEER.. or even a secret location A51 with a flying saucer.. hey that would be cool.. you can abduct people..

  Close, But Not The Best.

Wow! Have Video game reviewers lost there mind or what?

GTA IV is indeed an amazing game and a huge landmark on the 360. Although, it isn't the best game in the world or even the best game in the series. Don;t get me wrong, i LOVED the game as much as the next guy.

Giving this game 10/10 is a definite mistake. It's not perfect nor close. Ive experienced a few bugs and the missions get repetitive, even if the missions are fun.

Some players find the game hard to stick with due to the difficulty of some missions that consist of riding motorcycle . Driving takes a while to get used to, There not as good as Vice City or any previous GTA Game.

Should you buy GTA? Hell Yea! Is it the best? Hell No!

Dare i say Saints Row 2 May Be Better?

GRAND THEFT AUTO IV XBOX 360 GAME
Review created: 01/07/09(updated 06/09/09)
by:

The Good

* Superb character-driven story
* Liberty City really does feel alive
* Multiplayer modes that let 16 players go wild across the entire city
* Genuinely funny radio and TV shows, comedy acts, and character dialogue
* Controls are much improved over previous games.

The Bad

* Occasional problems with friendly AI
* Some minor visual quirks.

One of the many things that set GTAIV apart from its predecessors is Liberty City, which is more convincing as a living, breathing urban environment than anything that you've seen in a game before, and bears little resemblance to its namesake in 2001's GTAIII. Liberty's diverse population believably attempts to go about its daily business, seemingly unaware that several criminal factions are at war in the city. Niko has no such luck. He's compelled to start working for one of the factions shortly after arriving, when he learns that his cousin Roman has some potentially fatal gambling debts. Niko's military experience makes him a useful freelancer for employers in the business of killing each other, and though his reluctance to carry out their orders is often apparent, he does whatever is asked of him in the hope that completing missions for other people will ultimately give him the means to complete his own.

Actually, Niko doesn't have to do everything that is asked of him. On several occasions as you play through his story, you'll be presented with decisions that afford you the option of doing what you think is right rather than blindly following instructions. You don't necessarily have to kill a target if he or she promises to disappear, but you have to weigh the risk of your employer finding out against the possibility that the person whose life you spare might prove useful later in the game, or even have work for you in the form of bonus missions. To say anything more specific on this subject would be to risk spoiling one of GTAIV's most interesting new features, but suffice it to say that every decision you make has consequences, and you'll likely want to play through the game at least twice to see how the alternatives unfold.

Grand Theft Auto IV's story mode can be beaten in less than 30 hours, and there are so many optional activities and side missions to take part in along the way that you can comfortably double that number if you're in no hurry. The majority of the story missions task you with making deliveries and/or killing people, and play out in much the same way as those in previous games. With that said, most of the missions are a lot easier this time around, partly because Niko is a more agile and efficient killer than any of his predecessors, and partly because the LCPD seemingly has better things to do than hunt down an illegal immigrant who's gunning down undesirables all over the city. Some of the more imaginative missions sprinkled throughout the story include a kidnapping, a bank heist, and a job interview. The cinematic cutscenes associated with story missions are superbly presented and are the sequences in which the game's characters really shine. Without exception, the characters you encounter benefit from great animation, great voice work, and superbly expressive faces. They're not always so impressive when they join you on a mission and refuse to do what they're supposed to (for example, not following you on an escort mission, or failing to negotiate a doorway).

I would suggest this game for Game of the year because like most players of GTA i have played all of there games since there begining with there only aireal view and the players looked like ants and there was no graphics at all, but this installment is great a seamlessly endless map and the options of gameplay are uncountable you could beat this game and turn right arount and play it again and not play the same storyline again, it is amazing, there graphics are by far superior to any other action game, and the features, the features are amazing, this is one of those games that when you go to sleep you cant stop thinking if you made the right choices in the game, if you killed the right people and took the right path, this game is adicting, a must have~!

What i like so much about the Grand Theft Auto IV is that you can do almost anything. You have much more freedom than in other games. The story and the gameplay is ingenious. If you have an X-box or a Play Station 3, this is a MUST HAVE game.

The Grand Theft Auto series has been a break through unique series. It has created a entirely new genre, which only RockStar is able to produce. In my opinion, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was the best of the series, due to its unique features and genuine fun that drew you into the game. San Andreas and GTA 3 were great as well.

However, the same cannot be said for Grand Theft Auto IV. Although it itself has introduced unique features to an already unique series. I did not deliver (in my opinion) the same fun that Vice City, GTA 3 & San Andreas emitted. Why? The reason being that, although GTA IV has the most superior graphics of the series so far, it suffered when RockStar did not implement many of the features that made San Andreas and Vice City so enjoyable.

For example, many types of motorcycles were not implemented in the release of the base game (assuming that in the Downloadable Content their will be motorcycles). they choose to leave out planes, helicopters and guns that were in the earlier games. RockStar left out the many fun distractions, such as quads, casinos, and side missions that were in San Andreas and Vice City.

However, in their defense. RockStar has implemented new mini games such as bowling, a new cell phone feature, a choice on whether allowing some characters to live or be killed at the end of the missions. Also, they have finally implemented online multiplayer. Which is truly fun and unique and don't forget the superiority of the graphics.

Unfortunately, the new additions cannot save the game from seeming to be a bit dull after a while. Therefore it may very well be long forgotten once the next part of the GTA series is released, unlike Vice City and San Andreas. Grand Theft Auto IV is a solid game, with many unique features that do not emit the same feeling of past GTA games, it is worth playing, but consider renting or buying used instead of paying the full $59.99.

  Great game for adults
Review created: 11/01/08
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I like how there are so many different levels to the game away from the general storyline, including random people missions, races, and get-togethers. I like how they did eliminate some of the unnecessary parts of previous games as far as purchasing real estate, and working out at a gym so you don't gain weight. I LOVE how real the game seems and how the reaction to contact with different people. I also love how the cars only damage at certain points where they are hit. For instance if you hit a poll with the front right of your car, the left looks pretty good and the right is completely smashed. What I dislike is the fact that when you die or are busted you keep all your weapons. If you went to the hospital or jail you would not come out with machine guns and grenades! I understand some people may really like the fact you don't have to go searching all over for your weapons, but it isn't realistic.

Over all I rated it excellent because the like and loves entirely outweigh the only negative I could really think of.
