Album Notes 2002's crop of Grammy nominees is an agreeably eclectic selection, including the surprising perennial Bob Dylan, David Gray, the Backstreet Boys, James Taylor, and of course hardy old rockers U2. Relative newcomers India.Arie and Alicia Keys are justly rewarded for their debut efforts with the bouncy, acerbic "Video" and the stellar "Fallin'" respectively, while Outkast's infernally catchy "Ms. Jackson" is another welcome inclusion. Newcomers Train contribute their agreeably mainstream "Drops of Jupiter," while the hillbilly Monkees, A.K.A. the Soggy Bottom Boys from OH BROTHER WHERE ART THOU, perform the ubiquitous "Man of Constant Sorrow." British R&B singer Craig David shows he can hold his own with the big boys with "Fill Me In," and REM's "Imitation of Life" is a fine late-model contribution from a now-vintage band. Bob Dylan's "Honest With Me" amply demonstrates that this venerable old institution still has legs; the same could arguably be said of Elton John's Beatlesesque "I Want Love," which finds him reunited with old cohorts to beneficial effect.
