I have 5 different car-seats, and the Grace Snugride 5 pt harness is what came MOST highly recommended.
---I was told that the 5 pt harness was an essential vs a 3 pt harness, and I saw this and agreed.
---I was told that the seat would easily detach from it's base and re-attach to the stroller - which I agree on also.
But At first I had one Very big problem with this seat:
When you have the seat "rear-facing", the seatbelt or supplied straps secure the base to the seat at the baby's feet. BUT the head of the base is able to be lifted UP from the seat still. I thought that this could be a HUGE danger during a motor vehicle accident where someone would rear-end you. The FOOT of the base would be held down, but the HEAD of the base and the car-seat will still go flying UP during the rear-end wreck. This greatly concerned me and I modified the seat to include a secure attachment at the head of the base also. This would prevent the head from coming up off the seat.
BUT THEN I found out that this is how the seat is DESIGNED!! They want the seat to tilt up and back like a lever during a crash. That's why they tell you to leave the handle in the up position - to bounce off the back of the seat.
SO I was wrong on this. I took off the extra strap I had put on and left the seat alone. So if you have one, don't worry about the tilting - that is how it's designed. And make sure you leave the handle up when you put it in the car.
If you have any questions on ideas or tips on how to do this, feel free to send me an email.
