The singing performances of the choral groups and such gospel stars as Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammonds, Mom Winans, and Martha Munizzi combined nicely with, and elegantly complemented, the fine dramatic work of Idris Elba, Omar Gooding, Nona Gaye, and Clifton Powell. AMERICAN IDOL finalist Tamyra Gray shined in her acting and singing roles and showed that she has a bright future. 4+ stars. Buy the DVD & soundtrack to double your pleasure.

terrible movie, terrible acting, terrible plot just all around bad. Honestly don't waste any of your life watching this movie and definitely don't waste your money on it.

This movie, like The Fighting Temptations, was a gift to my daughter, who had not seen the movie before. Her children, grandchildren and her mother had seen it and enjoyed it. After finally seeing it herself, she, too, enjoyed the movie. It was worth the purchase.

It was ok. I mean, the message itself was good, it was pretty much the story of the prodigal son.
I loved the appereances of Yolanda Adams and Fred Hammond. The worship was GREAT it really got me dancing to the Lord.
The acting... wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I don't regret buying it though.

it is just a great movie. gives us a realistic and more appretiated view of the ways personal matters can affect everyone, even in church. W are merely humas, and we need to deal with conflicts on daily basis, well, christianity helps us face the daily situations with a possitive energy.
what would be of the world without christianity, without a church to inspire good among people and societies?

A film about morality, faith, hope and recovery!! If you haven't see this movie yet, then get a copy and sit down and get ready to enjoy a marvelous movie starring Boris Kodjoe and others. And if you can, purchase a copy for your own personal movie library!! I did!!!

I love this movie because the situations were real. Some of us have ran into people like the individuals starring in this movie. I would give this movie an AAAt. I bought it because I really enjoyed it when I watch it at the theater.

Oh, I love this movie. My kids and I have watched it several times already and it's really good. I have heard about it when it first came out and have always wanted to have it for my home collections, until I thought of finding it on eBay. I'm glad I ordered it, because I haven't regretted my decision. It is also real and almost every Christian can relate to the message in the story.

I decided to buy it because it featured gospel music artist.I love gospel music.
What I don't like is the film doesn't feature Hezekiah walker enough. But overall the story is Good.

My wife & I sat down to watch this movie one evening. We enjoyed it so much so I decided to buy it. Great movie, I'll give it two thumbs up!

I brought this inexpensive product less than a month ago and it arrived in excellent condition. The wait time was not long at all. I put it in the DVD player and it had great color and the picture was superb.There was no dislike about this product.This DVD had no rips nor scratches and I'm very proud of this purchase. You can't beat the price loved it!

I saw the preview of this movie on another film I purchased. It looked interesting so I took the chance and bought it. I'm glad I did. It has a great message about love and forgiveness. I recommend it highly.

This movie is a wholesome, family oriented story about a minister's son who becomes a rock star after leaving his father's church. He is gone for eleven years, but comes home to check on his father, who has cancer. The son decides to stage a benefit concert to fund the building of a new church.
I bought this movie after reading the item description, and was glad I did.

I love gospel music and this gave me the fantastic music and those that have a desire to serve the Lord. I have recommended it to many people.

Excellent Gospel movie. One could relate to the characters whether you were black or white. Great Musical. I liked it so much I purchased the Soundtrack.

I love this moive. It has a greaty message.Has great music. And makes you think about how you may be living your life.

I love this movie from the Characters to the story line. There aren't very many good African American movies that portay this very important aspcect of the black Christian Family's life, and this one by far was excellent. Keep in mind that ones story is different than the main character in this movie, and yet it is the same. Almost every one on some level deals with faith and redemption, jealousy and greediness, this movie depicts it all. I am also a music fanatic and Firk Franklin was the music producer for this movie, and the touch of hearing Yolanda Adams ' voice and seeing her on screen was priceless!

The Gospel(2006, DVD) was a movie I went to see when it was first released at the theaters. I went to see it two times. I wanted to make sure I got the DVD whenever it was released to the public. The quality of the movie it good, clear and a clean story line of the prodigal son returning to Christ. It has many top named gospel singing artist on the movie and is quite enjoyable for the whole family. We need more clean, good, and pure movies so the whole family can watch and enjoy and this one of them. If one did not know Christ, this movies will help them find Him. It is a great evangelical tool for the body of Christ.

This movie was a good rendition of the prodical son modern day. Boris Kojoe was just okay and I didn't really care for the acting, but the message was good. I expected better singing and I was disappointed because we have great singers today. Yolanda Adams and Fred Hammon were excellent and Tamara was awesome.
