Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown (1991, Hardcover, Reissue)

I bought this book because I remember reading it with my grandparents and siblings when I was younger. I wanted to share this book with my children (ages 2 & 3). Although it's not the most exciting story (it's definitely a bedtime book!) My kids love searching for the little white mouse, hidden throughout the book and identifying all of the items in the little rabbit's bedroom.

My neice is about to have a baby. For her shower, invitees were asked to bring their favorite children's book so the new mom could start a library for her new baby. My own children always loved Goodnight Moon and I wanted to find the same edition that I read to them many years ago! The book was exactly what I wanted and the new mom just loves it. It is a perfect bedtime story for the little ones.

The author is among the best - I love all her books! My children, as well as the preschool children I have taught, love them, too. In this book, the illustrations are clear and simple and familiar. The book is repetitive, quietly, which a child going to bed needs. The bunny is a "child" other children can relate to in going through bedtime routines. The "old woman whispering 'hush'" gives nice security to a child giving in to sleep. The rhymes are easy for a young child to remember, even to say to themselves as they fall asleep. It's a wonderful, peaceful book.

i liked the book because it is essy to read to a toddler. After I read it to my 1 year old granddaughter she would pick out certain things in the rooms . She was paying attention and I didn't even realize it. I decided to buy it because I wanted something her and I could share.
