Joan Jett tempered her mid-'80s commercial slump with a memorable spot in the 1987 rock & roll film LIGHT OF DAY, in which she acted alongside Michael J. Fox, and with such solid yet woefully overlooked releases as 1986's GOOD MUSIC. While it didn't spawn a monster hit as had her earlier albums ("Do You Wanna Touch," "I Love Rock N' Roll," etc.), GOOD MUSIC showed once and for all that Jett was going to stick to her guns, playing against-the-grain, dirty rock & roll.
Like her other solo albums, an abundance of cover songs are included. Highlights are the obscurity "Black Leather," as well as Jonathan Richman's "Roadrunner," Jimi Hendrix's "You Got Me Floatin'," and the Beach Boys' "Fun, Fun, Fun."
