Gone With the Wind (DVD, 2006)

I purchased Gone With The Wind(GWTW) because I am collecting Box Office Hits from 1939 to the present. The video I received was very good quality. GWTW premiered on December 15, 1939. When I watched my video, I found it hard to believe that this film was released in 1939. It's like everything from 1939 was preserved. The wizardry of this film is remarkable. Producing this film changed America. The performances given in GWTW are believable. I cannot image how many times the screen writing must have changed, but the entire story was accepting, except the very very end regarding Rhett Butler, who really threw me a surprise. (I won't tell for those who may not have viewed the film). But even with that ending, GWTW was still a great success in my opinion. And what can I say about the photography of this film. I can say, It's the best I've seen in a motion picture from the 1930's. Before viewing GWTW I read the book (years ago). I suggest reading the book before viewing the film. As you watch the video, this will really make you feel as though you are the characters in the film and you will find yourself sympathizing and understanding their positions. Vivien Leigh who plays Scarlett O'Hara is captivating, mesmerizing, engrossing, adoring, beautiful but most of all, charming. You will find many stories in Gone With The Wind...love, humanity, slavery, war. In these stories, GWTW share with us life as we know it today---the 'well-to-do' vs. the 'have-nots', social gatherings and activities of the rich, work ethnics of both groups (rich and poor), and survival of all through war. One point that GWTW makes is that you can have everything today but through war and hard times, anyone can be fighting for their home, their family, their dignity and their life. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE! -Enjoy!

This is an all time classic movie. I am so happy that it is released on DVD as the VHS was wearing thin. A great movie to add to your collection. Great drama and romantic.

CITIZEN KANE WOULD BE A BETTER NOMINEE FOR THE ..SO CALLED.. BEST PICTURE OF ALL TIME..SO WOULD MICKEY MOUSE IN STEAMBOAT WILLIE. IF ANYTHING, THIS PICTURE IS A VERY GOOD ONE BUT TOTALLY INACCURATE IN FACT. THE STEREOTYPICAL TYPES AND DISPLAYS OF BLACKS IS UNBEARABLE..MASSER. IT GOES TO SHOW YOU..THAT THEN, AS WELL, AS NOW.. SUBSTANCE TAKES SECOND PLACE TO ACCURACY. THE MOST REMARKABLE THING ABOUT THIS FILM..BESIDES CLARK GABLE CAN'T ACT..IS THE USE OF THE WORD "DAMN" GROUND BREAKING WORD THAT HAS SINCE LED TO THE OVERUSE OF WORDS LIKE...WELL NEVER MIND..YOU HAVE HEARD THEM .. GREAT MOVIE..BUT A FANTASY

I was required to watch the movie for a College Course in which we where studying Southern Literature. I had heard that this was nothing more than an old chick flick, but I was completely blown away with this movie. If you are a male and you can't appreciate this movie you must not have a heart. The portrayal of the South and Reconstruction is absolutely prefect. As someone with roots in the South watching this kind of put what my ancestors and this Nation went through in large perspective. By far Gone With the Wind is #1 on my list. Absolute Classic!!!!

'Gone with the Wind' is one of the greatest American classics ever made. It tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, played the very beautiful Vivien Leigh. She is one of the most selfish heroines you will ever see in a movie and still care for her. She is in love with Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard) but he marries to Melanie Hamilton. She is played by Olivia de Havilland in a great performance. A new man in Scarlett's life is Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) but Scarlett does everything to get what she wants including marrying someone for money and her own benefit. Rhett loves Scarlett with all his heart, mainly because they are much the same. They both think the world is there for them. Melanie and Scarlett become friends.

The movie is set in the time of the Civil War. What happens exactly with Scarlett, Rhett, Ashley and Melanie is for you to see but the war is pretty important for the story and the way it is used is great. The story itself is great anyway. Although the movie is long it is never boring. A reason for that is the performances. I already mentioned Olivia de Havilland, Clark Gable is very good, charming and sometimes funny, Hattie McDaniel as the black made is outstanding but I have to say that the best thing in this movie is Vivien Leigh. To make you care for a character like that is a pretty hard thing to do, but she makes it seem so easy. It is one of the strongest performances I have seen.

Besides the story and the acting we have the music, the sets, the costumes, the cinematography and of course the direction. It is all great. It was made in 1939 and over 60 years later it still is a very impressive movie.

I was buying the DVD as a gift for a family member but I never received it.
I thought products were in stock when they were offered. After a month I was refunded for the DVD.

This movie is a classic everyone should have it in thier collection. This is the old south at it best.

I bought it because it is a classic. I saw it as a child. I also have the problem of I'll think about that tomorrow.The whole movie is so good that I have a hard time giving my favorite part. I guess the part where they were going through Atlanta as it burned would probably be it.I am proud to have it.

It was a gift for my mom. It is her favorite movie and she could not find a copy of it anywhere. Her vhs no longer works. she likes the dvd.

I have not seen all of this movie but what I have seen is good. I bought ot for a Christmas gift I will add it to another movie that I bought for my granddaughter. She asked for it,and that is why I purchased it.

GONE WITH THE WIND IS A CLASSIC, TIMELESS, HISTORIC, AND A WONDERFUL STORY. THE DVD CAME IN A SHORT TIME, NO PROBLEMS THERE. I WILL BUY MORE DVD'S THROUGH THE EBAY MARKET.

I have always loved this great classic movie. It doesn't get any better than Scarlett and Rhett. I watched it on TV everytime it showed and finally decided to get the dvd so I could watch whenever I wanted to! The kids will think it's boring but I feel that way about some of their movies! I could watch it everyday!

This is a video about Civil War and a pamper Southern Belle. It is about a women who with strong determination and will power. She will not let anyone or anything stand in her way. Vivien Leigh plays Scarlett O'Hara and Clark Gable plays Rhett Butler. The main characters who match temperment and passion. They are like too peas in a pod and will do anything to get what they want. It is a must movie for anyone who likes the saga of the Civil War.

One of the best of all times. It covers all parts of feelings that any person can possibly feel. Love, hate, happy, sad, and any other emotion possible. The homes and grounds through out are fantastic. It shows what people were most likely about in that era. I don't like the slavery parts or the killing of brothers in the war. But unfortunatly that was a part of history that was bad but if we will keep working togeather now we can all live togeather.

i saw this movie for the first time 47 yrs ago and have loved it ever since, now to have it on DVD preserved for all time, i'm totally thrilled and excited.
it won't dry out like my VHS tape did and distort, and be lost forever..buying movies from ebay is such a pleasure and never have to leave home..thanks,baby-doll

I love the movie. Something I can watch over alot of time. It a sad movie that could have happen in the past. The acter was great in it.
