Just another day in the sun - Golden sun

This is a pretty good game but not one of the best. Golden Sun to be very detailed in what you can expect is Action/Adventure/Puzzle/Role-playing. The story line is very good, one of the best aspects about it. It can go either way, you can be bored stiff, or can't wait to keep playing. It has some "brain needed" parts of the game but I suppose there is always walk-throughs. However, the game does end mid-story but if you're like me you can't wait to get the follow-up game. Thanks for reading!

This game was purchased as a gift for my daughter. She thinks it is a great game. We had this game once before and something happened to it, so we bought it again here. I do prefer it for older teens. When we purchased the game before it was for a new teen and it wasn't a favorite. Now it is for a nineteen year old. I think she will like it better. We are a movie and gaming family, so we have a lot of games.

Out of all of the RPGs I've ever played in my life, Golden Sun is by far the best. I'm looking forward to the story continuation on Nintendo DS, but the 2 games on Game Boy Advance are attention grabbing. You won't put it down once you start.

  It's a very good game
Review created: 09/05/09

What I love about it is I guess everything really. It had an innovative way of changing classes through the game using the Djinni, and the game was fairly difficult if you just did things without using some semblance of tactics.
For a GBA game the graphics are good with some amazing summons. Yes it is a fairly short game, bu it was well worth it especially since it does have a second game to it and finally the upcoming Golden Sun DS

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally
takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link http:
http://www.YourPS34free.com/index.php?ref=5452229

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer
up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is
Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age.
Review created: 06/10/09
by:

This is an outstanding game. It expands greatly on the original Golden Sun, with immense replay value, an entire world to explore, and even a great soundtrack. The Golden Sun franchise is widely considered to be one of the best in RPG's. The only drawback may be the turn-based style of combat, but, for those that are accustomed to it, it is extremely well designed. I hope that you, if you choose to purchase it, will enjoy it as greatly as I have.

  Epic Game?
Review created: 05/17/09
by:
2colona2 ( 2 )

I just started so I couldn't say, but so far it's been pretty good. The characters talk too long at times and it's really annoying, but other than that the game is pretty cool. I bought it cause bunch of people told me it's an epic game and that it's only been released in the US once so i can't buy a brand new one.

  A GBA Masterpiece
Review created: 04/12/09

This game is a must buy for any RPG fan. It is a diamond in the dust, I hadn't heard of it until my friend suggested I try it. It has an amazing soundtrack, with a deep plot, as well as around 25-30 hours of playtime in it. The characters are very engaging and it is like reading a good book, but better! The graphics are top notch for a GBA game, and look better than even some DS games that I have played. I would highly encourage anybody to play this game so long as you have some patience and don't mind a few puzzles that are thrown into the mix!

IGN Ratings for Golden Sun (GBA)Rating Description
out of 10 click here for ratings guide
10 Presentation
As far as 2D role-playing games go, this is by far the most complete one of the genre developed...and it's on a handheld. Go figure.
10 Graphics
Absolutely brilliant use of lush colors throughout the game, and the developers push the GBA hardware with great particle effects, transparencies, and sprite scaling and rotation.
10 Sound
Put in the headphones, the synthesized orchestrations are some of the best heard on a handheld system. The hack, slash, and magic sounds are also a treat for the ears.
9.0 Gameplay
The biggest gripe is the silly and inconsistent use of yes/no questions throughout the game...but in some instances they don't bother asking.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
The game is a super long adventure, but it will end. Luckily you can still battle your buddies with the use of the link cable.
9.7
Incredible OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Like many other bored teenagers, when I was looking for something new to do, I turned to the internet to find a new video game to buy. Looking at the reviews, it seemed like Golden Sun was the game for me. Upon playing, my video game urges were pleasantly sated.

If you've played any of the games in the Final Fantasy series, you'll probably either love Golden Sun or hate Golden Sun for the very same reasons that you loved or hated Final Fantasy. The battle system is very much the same, and the characters have a rather Final Fantasy-ish flavor, except the names they have are relatively normal.

As in Final Fantasy, Golden Sun has 'summons'. They're called Djinni and they were, hands down, my favorite part of the game. They appear on the screen (unlike other foes, that you just run into by chance) and are usually in a difficult place to get. I loved the challenge of getting them, and what abilities you have or don't have varies greatly depending on which Djinn each character has equipped, which adds a lovely strategical element that Final Fantasy's brute force summons just don't have.

On top of that, Golden Sun has a lot more puzzle-based dungeons than the Final Fantasy series ever did. (Think Final Fantasy X, where they had the Chamber of the Fayth puzzles, only less obnoxious)

Now, I'm not saying that Golden Sun was a better game. It had a lot of shortcomings that were difficult to get over.

The first and foremost bother about Golden Sun was the dialogue. It had way too much of it. Big chunks, little chunks, huge monologues, it had a plethora of useless dialogue boxes with no way of skipping through them. Usually they had a large one right before every boss fight, which meant that, if you happened to perish fighting that boss, you had to listen to it all over again.

Your inventory was comparatively small, and places you could sell things were rather few and far between. So, while each character could carry small amount of items, I often found myself searching desperately for more room.

Speaking of characters, you only had four, which you played continuously. Like every single other video game in existence, you have a weak link in your party , in this case, Ivan. Unlike in the Final Fantasy series, you can't just switch him out for a better member, because you only have the four you constantly play as.

I have to say, though, that the biggest let-down of the game was the horrible ending. If you think that a story should end with at least a little bit of resolution, you're going to be rather disappointed with Golden Sun. The entire plot revolves around these four 'elemental lighthouses' that you're supposed to visit. In the end of the game, you only get to visit two. The enemies that you're chasing throughout the entire game never really get defeated, and the game ends basically in the middle of a mission. It was as though the people at Camelot decided that they'd had enough of making that game, and just cut the funding midway through.

Because of this, Golden Sun is a good length for a handheld game, (for me, a little over twenty hours), but if it meant adding on another five hours or so, just so we could have a better ending, I'd go for it.

To put it simply, Golden Sun was a good game that I had a lot of fun playing, but wasn't Hall of Fame material. It's available pretty cheap used, and is definitely worth it if you're looking to fill out your GBA arsenal.
