Golden Axe (Sega Genesis, 1989)

Capitalizing on the beat 'em up genre, Golden Axe became a key title for Sega, at first a hit arcade game and then this impressive Genesis/Mega Drive conversion (featuring two levels not seen in arcades.) With a range of characters yanked from Conan the Barbarian and Lord of the Rings, Golden Axe introduced the ability to hitch rides to wreak havoc and destruction on enemies.
