Godzilla 2000 (DVD, 2000, Japanese Language Version and English Dubbed Version)

So the effects haven't improved by leaps and bounds, but they're a little better...and you gotta admit that Godzilla looks slightly better too. The look isn't the only that's changed with our large lizard, though. In this film, Godzilla is reinvented (again) for the new millenium. Only he isn't that loveable super-hero of Japan's past. This time, he's back to his path of destruction and terrorizing Japan - just like the Godzilla in the films from 1985 and after. This makes the stories btter because Godzilla is back to destroy Japan and suck it's nuclear energy, but you still get great monster battles. This particular story has a bit of a mystery to it. While there isn't a terrible amount of action involved, the story still helps reintroduce Godzilla into the year 2000 with almost flawless execution. While the story may lag at times, it will still satisfy anyone. Old school Godzilla fans should have no problem enjoying the new millenium series.

I have loved Godzilla movies ever since I was a kid. I don't care if they are the corny ones from the 60's and 70's, or what time period. I don't care if they are Japanese with only English subtitles. I am now collecting them, and am replacing my vhs with dvd. I've got a few more to go.

FOR GODZILLA MOVIES--THIS ONE WAS A GOOD ONE. MY GRANDSON IS IN TO GODZILLA. HE IS THE REASON I BUY CHEEZY MOVIES.

I had ordered this Godzilla 2000 DVD based on the fact that it was advertised as including the unedited Japanese language version as well as the modified American version. The order got out to me fairly quick, i.e. within two weeks. However, the DVD I was sent included only the American version of the film, and said quite clearly on the box that the only languages included were English and French. I've emailed the store about this, but so far have heard no reply. Everything would have been great about this transaction if they'd just sent me what they advertised.

I just Love the movies and since I was a liitle child this monster was my favorite. I love the way the other monster try to defeat him but in the end there is only one winner.

Great movie for all Godzilla fans. Godzilla vs. an alien race that is planning to change the earths atmosphere to support them, which also means destroying the human race.

i bought this movie for my 8 year old son and he and i are godzilla freaks. The movie is great. as long as i can hear godzilla's yell i am happy. this movie is a favorite of my sons and we bought it for him for christmas because his whole life revolves around this monstrosity

This wasn't a good Godzilla movie. When Godzilla swam underwater it was more like animation. I loved all the old Godzilla movies but now that its 2000 we need better graphics!!!!! The man in the suit isn't cutting it anymore. This is like thoes B movies on the sci-fyi channel only not entertaining. If you saw the old godzilla movies this is like all the old plots rolled into one. Way too predictable!!!!!!!! Do youself a favor and don't waste your time!!!!!

I got this movie for my son(5yrs old) whos a fan of the big G.
It was a good movie with a great new look for Godzilla.
The storyline was ok building up to the big fight at the end with Orga.
Not bad, & the price was right.I would recommend it for the Godzilla fan.

I purchase this dvd for my nephew who is a big Godzilla fan. He just loves all the movies. This dvd was a replacement for one that was previous stolen from his house. The price on the dvd was fair and the product was in good condition. Great service all around.

Believe me when I say this dvd will be played over and over by nephew. Go Godzilla!!

It is one of the better Godzilla movies in my opinion. It lived up to my expectations. I bought it because of my interest in the movie and the attractive price.

This is quite a relaunch of the big green master of disaster! The first of the new "Alternate Reality" series of Godzilla films, Godzilla 2000 was an answer to the less than craptastic American Godzilla film made in the late 90's. This movie is standard guy-in-a-rubber-suit fare with updated special effects and updated critter designs. Godzilla had never looked better before thsi film, and he makes a bigger mess than ever before. It's a fun, goofy, action-packed ride! The kids should dig it as much as any adult could. The bad part is that the DVD is only offered with an English dubbed voice track, and it's HORRIBLE. The commentary shows that the guys who organized the dub had very little grasp of the subtle Japanese script and an even worse sense of humor. Some of the one-liners are god-awful at best. But, if you can look past that, the movie is very much worth the money for seeing the big G at his best! Excellent!

My son and I prefer this one over tristar's Godzilla made here because this one has an awesome Godzilla, not like the one made here in the USA where he looks all buff like a half man, half lizard thing with the small waist, broad shoulders, muscular thighs and biceps... I mean, what the heck was that about????? In Godzilla 2000, he's much like the previous movies, but so much better, meaner, stronger, indestructible! ... just awesome. Good story line, sleek graphics. Very enjoyable. Just passing down the love to the next generation of Godzilla lovers! Godzilla rocks yo!

This was the return of the classic Godzilla after the americanized version released in 1998 (which I personally also enjoyed). Believe it or not this is a direct sequel of the original 1954 film, this film effectively begins and sets the tone for the Millennium Series: It ignores continuity established by any previous films, instead preserving only the original Godzilla and working other appearances into the intervening years. Godzilla is back making Tokyo its playground, destroying everything it comes across and of course fighting aliens. If you are a Godzilla fan you will enjoy this film.
