God's Trombones by James Weldon Johnson (1927, Paperback)

I was so excited to find this lost treasure. I first knew the poem "The Creation" which is included in this book. For many years I tried to find a copy. Just recently I learned that it was part of this collection. To my delight, all of the poems are excellent. The author is an "old time religion", black preacher. The poems are straight to the point and give a wonderful view of some familiar Christian Bible stories. It's definitely a treat to read these. As a lay pastor, I know that I will be using some of these works in my future sermons. Anyone who is interested in Bible study or devotions would benefit from this text. Actually, anyone would benefit from this text. Read it and get a new outlook.
