Gods Must Be Crazy I & II - DVD 2-Pack (DVD, 2004, 2-Disc Set)

I grew up watching these movies and have wanted to own them for quite some time. It was nice to get both of them in a 2-pack. These were always favorites of mine because they are a unique form of comedy that I haven't seen anywhere else and were well thought out and put together. These movies tend to please most audiences.

Loved the first movie when it came out. There is some violence in it, but it is over with quickly. Lots of ironic contrasts--who is really "civilized", the bushmen or the people in cities? Maybe the gods really are crazy with the gifts they have given us! The second movie is perhaps even better than the first. Less slapstick humor (no bumbling Mr. Stein), but the same smart contrasts between cityfolk and countryfolk. Xi is wonderful in both movies.

The movie was one that I had seen several years ago. I had tried to find the movies in my home area and I had no luck. The DVD's are excellent.

This starts out looking like a cheap documentary. Be patient. Part I was very low budget, but you soon get caught up in it. It is side-splitting funny, with a lot of cultural sensitivity and it was environmentally thought provoking.

A classic. Good wholesome comedy that's appropiated for the whole family. Nice scenery as it is filmed on location. Warm hearted and funny. Don't pass this one up if you like intelligent humor.

I don't recall seeing a funnier movie than The Gods Must be Crazy, until I saw The Gods Must Be Crazy II.
The two films are about the same African, an innocent man living in an isolated village with his small tribe.
In the first movie, someone drops a coke bottle from an airplane into their village. The natives study it as if it came from heaven and try to figure out its many uses....holding water, sand, and other items, yet you could see through it. But soon, trouble develops as something that never happened before occurs.....disagreements over who should have the bottle. So, the chief takes the bottle and announces that he will take it and get rid of it by throwing the bottle over the edge of the earth.
Thus begins an adventure like you've never seen as he learns of other people inhabiting his land, while a civil war battle develops and he finds himself in the middle of it.
I saw it first many years ago in a theatre and have recommended it to lots of friends....and when I saw it available on E Bay, I couldn't resist buying it for my own enjoyment. If you're ever in a fowl mood....these movies will cure you instantly.
If you find it on E bay, buy it by all means.

A simple story, when you watch it you'll learn a little more about life then you knew before and not even realize it. Well written and for sure a collector's item.

Both of these movies brought me back to my childhood. I remember watching them for the first time with my father and not only thinking the movie itself was rather ammusing, but also seeing my father laugh hysterically at the dry, yet informative, humor.
It's definately not Oscar-worthy, but it's definately an all around good time with quite a bit of culture.

This is a great set of movies. I've watched them years ago. They start slow but half way thru your sides will hurt from laughing.

I did like both of the movies. it kinda quirky but I did thourghly enjoy both movies. I enjoyed the information of the main charrater and what it helped being in a movie. he did not get a big head like many stars of other movies.

They Absolutely great and funny movies. The first is better than the second, but both are full of simple humor.

This is a very openly honest, appealing pair of movies, that will entertain adults and children alike. A glimpse into a part of the African bush, (the Kalahari Desert)that is little known to many of us in the Western world. The humor and the entertainment are steadily paced throughout the film, both in "God's...., one, and two," and are sure to have you splitting your sides with laughter. Both films poke fun at many of the conventions that we in North America live by, and yet, without demeaning in any way. You can't go wrong with viewing these two films if you like good clean fun.

I love everything about. The actors are so funny. When I first saw this movie years ago, I fell in love with it. If there be a part 3, I will buy it. The bad thing I hated about it, was when they put the city part in there. I felt that, they could have left that part out. Also, they could have put the language in english at the bottom of the screen. Other than that it was hilarious. I give it an A++++++.

One of the best movies and sequels. It was underrated by movie studios, but became a cult favorite with people who appreciate good movies.

I love this movie, very funny. I've watched it over and over. If you like oddball funny characters, you'll love it.

I am returning the 2 sets ofr 2 disks ea. due to the fact they can not be played in my region. I ofcourse am not happy about this because they were gifts to my grandchildren and I am paying postage twice now. Frances Sanger

I like these movies. Nothing to dislike about them. Absolutely loved the very fast shipping. I decided to but it beause I like the movies part 1 and part 2. Makes my kids laugh out loud.

This movie is soooo funny!! My mom has been looking for this DVD forever, so when I gave it to her for Christmas she was estatic!! Definatly a MUST HAVE CLASSIC!!

The Gods Must Be Crazy,One of the best Foreign films of the 1980s,is a satire of western civilzation, as a bushman first encounters civilization. This leads the bushman to encounter a pretty girl, a runaway land rover, the rhino fire patrol, a man who collects elephant manure, a governmental coup, the ends of the earth, and a coke bottle thrown out of an airplane.

Every time I watch this I see something new.

I bought these because I had one of the movies on VHS and loved it. They are very entertaining with an unusual sense of humor -- good family entertainment.
